$50,000 dollar reward for anything in Nichiren Daishonin's hand that mentions either the DaiGohonzon of Oct 12, 1279 by name or one mention of a supreme Gohonzon more venerable than the others.
You will probably get to keep your fifty grand. A scholarly friend of mine informed me many years ago that he could find no mention of the Dai-Gohonzon and told me he suspected the Dai-Gohonzon was created as a unification point for the sect, sometime in the vicinity of the 9th High Priest, when Nichiren believers were experiencing schisms much like what is happening today, though on a smaller scale. This same friend is fond of quoting another High Priest, known as Nisshin the Pot-Wearer, who wrote, "Never have I seen a group as fractious as Nichiren's believers." My own opinion is that absolute power corrupts absolutely and that those, both priestly and lay, who deign to speak for the power of NMRK and the Gohonzon run a great risk of arrogantly thinking that the lifeblood of faith which flows through all of us who cherish Nichiren's teachings, is somehow specially reserved for some more than others. They all seem to forget there is only one, Diamond, commandment -- to chant to the Gohonzon. Just my .02.
