The contradiction here is brutally obvious-- . Here is a robe wearing cleric ministering to those who seek to practice faith in the Lotus sutra - right? Apparently the congregation isn't getting any *brighter*-- ergo, the infomercial style lecture preached with the voice tone of Mr. Rogers.
Not to mention the mixing of practices. Aikido for discipline or getting up in the morning to chant and go to work for discipline? At least getting up in the morning is not a Zen [Bushido] derived practice.

Reading, reciting, believing and upholding the Lotus Sutra is ONE practice that rejuvenates, enhances and improves EVERY aspect of our lives. I didn't hear the Rev mention the Wonderful Law, or the Excellent Medicine left for us by Shakyamuni Buddha. Did I miss a reference to arousing a single moment of joy upon hearing even one phrase of the Lotus Sutra?
