SGI always protecting the dignity of life?

Since the SGI USA is composed predominantly of new age liberals who espouse a woman's right to choose, they will never officially discuss how "a woman's right to choose" is compatible with "upholding the dignity of human life.", the banner cry of the Soka Gakkai. We see a similar situation with their former top woman's division leader who, for 20 years, had been a death sentence prosecutor. SGI's most important business partner is Mitsubishi which manufactures weapons of mass destruction. How is that compatible with their holier than though proclamation of always protecting the dignity of life?

  1. I don't think that a " woman's right to choose "- is a matter for any religion to interfere with.
Why NO respect for privacy as a display of acknowledging the dignity of a woman's life?
The death penalty is definitely a very salient topic for ALL religions to weigh in on - along with war and threatening innocent people with " fire and fury such as the world has never seen"

  3. Religious freedom , not law based on religious beliefs is the foundation of democracy . A woman's " right to choose abortion " is a stunning example of civil law.
For me , my Buddhist based beliefs lead me to act with respect for our constitution and for the unique and equally private position women are in with regard to this " women only " issue.
One of the surest ways to lose respect from those we hope to introduce to Nichiren's teachings is to adopt a position of " religious authority " over a woman's body. I think the history on that particular plight of women speaks for itself.
Common sense wise- pregnancy is a private matter, as is woman's medical info .
Abiding by federal law based on the constitution is what I believe demonstrates important aspects of character -- it is unfortunate that so many have struggled to access their civil rights and horrifying to have a POTUS who is bent on destroying the progress we have made on civil rights issues.
At the end of the day I cannot fathom the Buddha wielding authority or even wanting to when it comes to the personal decisions that
we are confronted with in this evil age. -open to any question from s seeking mind is how i see the Buddha.

  4. the christian right is two steps behind hardcore isis. we have met the enemy...and he is us.

the constitution is a high simi-enlightened document or doctrine. like the lotus sutra it is meant to be respected not trashed. "the buddha is always here teaching the law". and as always...as is everything...a double edged sword. no one has the right to own anyone...claiming to be a christian nation...what a hideous and evil past.

more recently......the hardcore christians got confused and mistook the devil for god. only the daimoku can cure stage 4 insanity !
