SGI's faulty logic taken to its logical conclusion

SGI asserts, "The understanding of SGI and the greatness of Sensei can only be shared among Buddhas." Then, those self-serving university functionaries, dictators, and sleazy politicians who laud SGI and Ikeda [to the tune of hundreds of honors and awards] are Buddhas while those who criticize SGI and Ikeda, no matter how humble, honest, and learned, are deluded common mortals.

On SGI "benefits" and "miracles"

You must have some unlearned doctors Richard. Most people overcome their Bell's Palsy in a week or two. Jerry "Shinkei" Marcheso, while an independent, overcame brain cancer through a correct faith. SGI picks up on utter ordinariness and makes a big deal of it because there are so few extraordinary benefits in the Soka Gakkai [save, of course, for dear leader's 300 +  bought or cajoled honors and awards from secular fools].

Anyway, Nichiren Daishonin taught that even such "miracles" as overcoming brain cancer, let alone Bell's Palsy, pales in significance to faithfully practicing as the Lotus Sutra teaches.

"Early in my youth I faced a huge test in my relationship with President Ikeda. I loved him from the first and considered myself his disciple. But I was very young and had no clue about the obstacles that I would face in the future. After a particularly severe set back in my life, I felt that I had failed as a disciple. Before I realized it, I was overcome with negativity. "I have failed him;' I thought. And my heart broke. I had to think deeply about what he really meant to me. What is a disciple? What does a mentor think about a disciple? I came to understand that I had a very shallow view of the mentor-disciple relationship. When I realized that President Ikeda's belief in me, his belief in my potential, was unconditional, I was able to pull myself out of the depths of that hell... 

I heard the mentor disciple relationship explained once as the mentor being like a transmitter and the disciples like receivers. President Ikeda is alwIys transmitting. It is up to us to receive the message. Several months ago I heard a young woman describe her struggle with the mentor-disciple relationship. She was devoted to her practice, to kosen rufu and her members. She was acting as a person of the same mind as the mentor. But although she respected President Ikeda and thought he was "a great guy" as she put it; her heart was closed to him. And this troubled her. She was frustrated by the fact that she "just did'nt get it." This was some thing she pondered through many prayers. Then one night as she was standing alone out under the stars at the Florida Nature and Culture Center, she had an awakening, a realization. It was a matter of trust It wasn't President Ikeda; it was her ability to open her heart to him. Her father had been a very respected professional, but behind closed doors he was an abuser feared by the family. She realized that this was the "wall" between herself and President Ikeda. All of her chanting and prayers had led her to see this and suddenly she "got it" and tears began to flow down her cheeks. Her receiver was turned on."

Alan SGI leader: But that isn't what the SGI is at all. The SGI is built around the Gohonzon and Daimoku, the SGI is built on faith in the teachings of Nichiren Daishonin.

Me: In October of 1995, We [my wife and I] went to the opening of the new New York Culture Center. Neither "Gohonzon", "Daimoku", "Lotus Sutra" nor "Shakyamuni Buddha" was mentioned even once and  Nichiren Daishonin was mentioned twice during the entire two and a half hour meeting. Daisaku Ikeda was mentioned hundreds of times. This was the straw that broke our back.

Alan: Sensei is the person urging us to deepen and further our practice, our faith and our understanding, through his words and example.

Me: Were it true, there wouldn't be such a de-emphasis on the Lotus Sutra, Shakyamuni Buddha, daimoku, Gohonzon and Nichiren Daishonin.

Alan: Granted, this often comes across pretty strangely, but it is expressed in perfectly reasonable and understandable ways just as often.

Me: It can not be expressed reasonably in terms of the authentic teachings of Nichiren Daishonin. Alan, get out while you can without too much further damage. You are half way out the door anyway but you don't even see it because your brain has not regained its health and it won't as long as you remain halfway in.

Alan: It is unfortunately the case that some people only focus on the strange. It's kind of sad actually.

Me: Its sad that you don't see how truly strange and terrible is SGI and its leaders.

Some statistics for statistics loving SGI cult members

Some years back, a group of former SGI members did a statistical analysis of SGI internet web pages, World Tribune, living Buddhism etc. and the topics were skewed very heavily towards Ikeda, something to the effect of ten to one of all topics covered.

Ten possible scenarios at a Nichiren Debate

1. Reverend Iwaki of the Nichiren Shoshu will put everyone to sleep with his broken English and long winded explanations based on Tendai esoterism. NST wins by default.

2. The NST lay representative will consistently run out of time citing his priests' views before touching on the Lotus Sutra and Gosho. NST loses

3. Another NST lay representative will totally ignore the topic. NST loses.

4. Dave Cole will assert that it is all in the protocol we agreed upon at the Ceremony In the Air to worship the DaiGohonzon together and therefore, not one bit of documentary or theoretical evidence is necessary. The judges, their water having been spiked with 30 hits of LSD, realize this for themselves. NST wins.

5. SGI will either bribe the judges or surreptitiously place SGI members as judges. SGI wins.

6. Julian SGI will not cite the Gosho or the Lotus Sutra, claiming, that they, as well as daily Gongyo, are unimportant. SGI loses.

7. Soren SGI will argue that the lifeblood of faith is only found within the body of believers who are already Buddhas (the SGI) and therefore, everyone who tries to refute SGI is a slanderer. SGI loses.

8. Kathy asserts that neither the NST priest, the Nichiren Shu priest, nor Reverend Shinkei understands Classical Japanese and what Nichiren actually taught and therefore, we should defer to Ted Morino's wisdom and understanding. SGI loses.

9. Ted Morino, being privy to the SGI study departments internal memo of all the passages of the Gosho that were changed by the SGI, cites all ten of them. He has everyone bamboozled until Reverend Shinkei points out what the Daishonin really taught. In his failed effort at obfuscation, he falls back on the New Human Revolution, the Guidance Memo, and the World Tribune. Perceiving that the SGI might lose, he recounts his experience at having overcome, mental illness, a fungating brain tumor, hemorrhoids and AIDS. The judges are profoundly moved. SGI wins.

10. The SGI members, citing the guidance of their eternal mentor on determination and victory in order to bring forth their human revolution, strive to create a brilliant and warm atmosphere of open dialogue while determining to manifest ever more victorious effort to never fail to win, no matter what. Everyone's head begins to spin and all decide to go get some White Castle hamburgers and recover.

"I agree that we are responsible for our own actions, but this is one of the many hypocrises of the SGI. People are lured into the SGI with visions of taking control of their lives and finding happiness. People don't sign up for the SGI's form of brainwashing, which dictates (at least it used to) that you attend several meetings each week and do weekend activities, all the while being told that you must get guidance at least once a month. And if you don't, the "leaders" visit your home, sometimes unannounced, to shove their destructive advice down your throat,then tell you that if you don't follow it, you have no faith. In essence, you are to give up all notions of common sense.

I am happier now than when I was in the SGI spider web. I don't dwell on how my childhood was robbed, which would only make me sad. As I said in my original posting, I have accomplished much more , both personally and professionally, outside the SGI than within it. Which brings to mind one

other atrocity--my territory YWD leader strongly discouraging me from attending Cal Poly SLO because my "destiny" was to be in Santa Rosa HQ (in other words, help find more victims in Santa Rosa from whom they could get more "donations"). I was more than qualified to attend Cal Poly, and would've gone, but my mother got wind of this YWD leader's words and put an end to my dream. Being that I had no job at that time, Lori, what was I supposed to do? Luckily I was still able to graduate from another college and go to law school, but I'll never forget that experience so that I don't put my future kids through the same crap.

Rather than constantly lament what happened to me, I only posted my experience so that others might avoid being sucked into the very-controlling SGI. Namu-myoho-renge-kyo.

Soka University graduate found guilty for stealing cell phone logs

The Tokyo District Court on December 28 found Yoshimura Eiji, a Soka University graduate and former employee of DoCoMo Systems, guilty of violating the Telecommunications Business Law by stealing cell phone logs. He was sentenced to ten months in prison, suspended for three years.

A Soka Gakkai vice president led the team of defense lawyers.

In March-April 2002, Yoshimura used a computer terminal at NTT-DoCoMo to illegally obtain cell phone logs of Fukuhara Yukiko, former Soka Gakkai member and Otsukotsu Masao, a journalist who is critical of Soka Gakkai.

In the related court ruling of November 2002, both Yoshimura, who was involved in the theft, and Soka University's student affairs section vice chief were convicted of directing Yoshimura to steal the logs. The vice chief was then Soka Gakkai's deputy chief of the national youth department.

The victims of the crime, including Fukuhara and Otsukotsu, issued a statement blaming the ruling for failing to inquire into the background of the information stealing. They stated that they will bring the case to a civil trial so that it will become clear that the Soka Gakkai group attempted to collect information in order to suppress anti-Soka Gakkai activities.

Commenting on the trial that ended without exposing the motive and background of committing the crime, Akahata on December 29 said, "The core of the theft incident was ignored, and both the police and DoCoMo was not cooperative in establishing the facts." (end)

SGI's attempts to slam and castigate those who are guilty of no fault.

SGI members can write countless diatribes that aren't even close to reality, attacking whoever or whatever person or group and that, according to them, is indicative of the behavior of a Buddha but if anyone points out SGI members' real, bizarre, and over the top adulation for Taisaku Ikeda, he is a low life conditioned, angst ridden, disgruntled, former SGI member exhibiting non-Buddhist behavior. We will continue to drive a Mack truck through the gaping holes in their logic and over their false assertions and attempts to slam and castigate those who are guilty of no fault.

Proof that SGI leaders fail to manifest the Four Noble Worlds

At times greed appears in the person's face, at times foolishness, and at times perversity. Rage is the world of Hell, greed is that of Hunger, foolishness is that of Animality, perversity is that of Anger, joy is that of Rapture, and calmness is that of Humanity. These worlds, the six paths, are present in the physical appearance of the person's face. The remaining four noble worlds are hidden and dormant and do not appear in the face, but if we search carefully, we can tell that they are there." -- The True Object of Worship

Question How then can we tell that the Four Noble Worlds are present?

Answer: Through the noble human behaviors of honesty, kindness, compassion, mercy, justice, forbearance, magnanimity, and protecting the teachings we can tell that the Noble Worlds are manifest. SGI leaders fail on all counts.

SGI Area Leader and Dallas Morning News Faith Forum participant Ric Dexter tells little of the truth

SGI Area Leader Ric Dexter writing in the Dallas Morning News faith blog, "When we blame this evil on (pick your own boogeyman, call him “the other”) we do nothing to weaken its influence. Nichiren taught that to destroy evil in our society we must first destroy it within ourselves."

I am profoundly offended that the SGI-USA......in 2012...is still conducting Daimoku campaigns for the failure of our former rival sect!

"Nam Myoho Renge Kyo" means 'I revere the buddha nature of all living beings". Nichiren wrote; "were they not bodhisattvas, they could not chant the daimoku."

I despise the religion of Nichiren Shoshu...but i chant for the enlightenment of all their members.

How are we expected to chant that their temple will not re-open...that it should burn down again?

If THIS is Nichiren Buddhism, then I'm confused...and tired. Dave Baldhun told me this baloney was all in the past...and yet here it goes again...

I encourage all members NOT to participate in this ludicrous farce. I en- courage all members to discover and DISCARD every element of Nichiren Shoshu still embedded in their brains. EVERY ELEMENT!

The fact is that the entire leadership of the SGI is fully aware that the re- ligion of Nichiren Shoshu...as based on the wooden inscription of 1279...is baloney...but they privately insist that it will take years to dispell this aspect of the faith of the SGI pioneers.

They are lying to us...straight up!

So, go ahead and pray for the demise of NST...it IS a false religion. But don't allow our own leaders to soft-serve you their version of Nichiren Shoshu lite!

An experience of feeling taken for granted, condemned when I tried to take time for myself to attend to my own life, feeling like I neglected my children but couldn't say no. Was often ostracized when I went against things I didn't like. I also was subjected to sexual harassment from two different men's division leaders at different points. They have abandoned cause and effect for gain

The great irony of the Soka philosophy is that those who promote it, the supposed avatars of Beauty, Goodness, and Gain, are ugly, indecent, and disadvantaged [in the spiritual realm]. We should ask ourselves why they chose Makiguchi's philosophy of Beauty, Goodness, and Gain over Kant's philosophy of Beauty, Goodness, and Truth and why they chose Nichiren Shoshu's teachings over the teachings of the Buddha in the Lotus Sutra and those of Nichiren in his authenticated writings?

Makiguchi and the Soka Gakkai replace truth for gain because of greed [Hunger], ego [Anger], and ignorance [Animality] and, precisely because they have replaced truth with gain, their claims of beauty and goodness is beauty and goodness in name only. Similarly, because they have abandoned truth for gain, they have abandoned cause and effect for gain. By adopting gain at the expense of truth [or gain at the expense of cause and effect], it is easy to see why their devotees have become liars and smiling backstabbers: Their philosophy is one of ends justifying the means. They have detached [or fooled themselves into believing that they have detached] effects from their causes. This is why both SGI leaders and members, instead of reaping the beauty and good from the Lotus of the Supreme Truth, reap the retribution of Hell, Hunger, and Animality in this and every future existence until, of course, they have paid off their heavy karmic debt, again encountered the Lotus Sutra and become its votaries..

They chose the Nichiren Shoshu because only the Nichiren Shoshu [for the sake of worldly riches] was willing to overlook replacing  the truth of the Lotus Sutra with gain. They themselves had already done so more than six hundred years ago with the advent of Nichiu the leper. It is not an accident that like met like to form their unholy union. There is a profound karmic bond between the Soka Gakkai and the Nichiren Shoshu. There is also a profound karmic significance to their appearance in the Latter Day... as a stark contrast to the beauty and goodness of the true votaries of the Lotus Sutra.

SGI a ship to cross the sea of suffering?

Daisaku Ikeda is at the helm, Hiromasu Ikeda takes up the mooring rope, and the Four Bodhisattvas led by Danny Nagashima row in perfect unison. The ship, loaded down with the treasure pirated from the members, sinks to the bottom when the great storm hits, drowning all aboard.

Nichiren quote on who is the "true Buddha".

"The Thus Come One Shakyamuni is the true Buddha who gained enlightenment in the inconceivably remote past." -- On the Protection of the Nation

This one sentence from the writings of Nichiren Daishonin puts to rest the false 550 year teaching of Taisekeji/SGI that Nichiren is the True Buddha.*

*The first mention of the idea of "Nichiren as True Buddha" surfaces in the 15th Century in the Gonin-shohasho-kenmon of Nichigen, the head priest of Nishiyama Honmonji temple. Nichigen and Nichiu, the 9th High Priest of Nichiren Shoshu, were friends and so it is probable that Nichiu got the idea of Nichiren as True Buddha from Nichigen.

Who are our true good friends in this Latter Age? Our Gajokai, Sokahan, YMD, or YWD comrades? Our SGI Senior Leaders? Daisaku Ikeda?

"Answer: In this latter age there are true good friends to be found. They are none other than the Lotus and Nirvana sutras.

Question: It is very common for a person to act as a good friend. But is there any proof that the Law can be such a friend?

Answer: It is common enough for a person to act as such a friend. But in this latter age, no true friend is to be found, and thus there is ample proof that the Law can act as such a friend.

Great Concentration and Insight says: 'At times following a friend, and at times following the sutra scrolls, one hears the one true teaching of enlightenment that has been described above.'

The meaning of this passage is that one should take the sutra scrolls as one’s good friend.

The Lotus Sutra states: 'If when the Lotus Sutra is propagated throughout Jambudvīpa there are those who accept and uphold it, they should think to themselves: This is all due to the authority and supernatural power of Universal Worthy!'

This passage means that when ordinary people in this latter age put faith in the Lotus Sutra, they are relying upon the power of their good friend Universal Worthy.

The sutra also says: 'If there are those who accept, uphold, read, and recite this Lotus Sutra, memorize it correctly, practice and transcribe it, you should know that such persons have seen Shakyamuni Buddha. It is as though they heard this sutra from the Buddha’s mouth. You should know that such persons have offered alms to Shakyamuni Buddha.'

Reading this passage, we can see that the Lotus Sutra is none other than Shakyamuni Buddha himself. For persons who do not have faith in the Lotus Sutra, Shakyamuni Buddha has passed into extinction. But for those who put faith in the sutra, although Shakyamuni Buddha may seem to have passed into extinction, he is still present in the world."
