Nichiren Daishonin's relics and the degenerate Nichiren Shoshu and Nichiren Shu

The Nichiren Shoshu claims to have Nichiren Daishonin's bones yet the Nichiren Shu sells admission to their ossuary [columbarium] on Minobu that they claim contains Nichiren Daishonin's bones.* Were the latter true, that means the Nichiren Shu low lives dug up Nichiren Shonin's bones in order to sell admission tickets. Were the former true, the Nichiren Shoshu low lives dug up Nichiren's bones to bring them back to Taisekeji to prove their orthodoxy. Either way, someone is lying and both are degenerates.

* Note...They both claim "bones", not ashes. Were their claims, "ashes" it could be because relics in Buddhism are often distributed among the various heirs. Were this true, it would disprove the Nichiren Shoshu fake transfer documents. It is doubtful that his relics were distributed since Nichiren stated that his remains are to be buried at Minobu

The issue is doctrine only and the truth by Stephanie Maltz circa 1996

Well, your answers are quite sad to read. Instead of going back to the source and re-reading Nichiren you say, "what you say about the severe retribution for not following your brand of Shakyamuni's teachings is truly astonishing"! How is this my brand? It's Nichiren's teaching. I didn't find "passages to support (my) beliefs" and "goshos are open to interpretation, despite (my) insistence that (I) alone know the truth". Goshos are exactly as they are written, no interpretation at all when it's so clearly spelled out. You say that my statements do not "pass the rationality test".  And you say "there cannot only be One Way".  Sorry, that's the Lotus Sutra's and Nichiren' message, there is ONLY one way, not two or three. "There are many paths to enlightenment as there are seekers". Fine words, but they are a different teaching. They are not Nichiren's and they are not the Lotus Sutra. In case you didn't notice, Nichiren is a fundamentalist, and his is an exclusive practice, i.e. the Lotus Sutra only. Likewise, Shakyamuni says that he had "not yet revealed the truth", which is found only in the Lotus Sutra. You can't be a Nichiren Buddhist if you don't believe Nichiren's words.

Nichiren was a "scriptural Buddhist". He relied solely on the sutras. His earliest credo was from the Great Nirvana Sutra..... "Trust the Dharma, do not trust human teachers. Trust the wisdom (of the Buddha) do not trust human consciousness. Trust the sutras of final meaning, do not trust the sutras of non-final meaning." The Buddha taught three kinds of teaching: provisional, expedient, and final.

The final is the Lotus Sutra, with the Nirvana Sutra as a "gleaning". Or as T'ien t'ai said: "If something agrees with the (Lotus) sutra, then record and use it. Do not believe in oral transmissions." In the Tendai tradition of Nichiren's day, there was a "zenification" happening, which implied that there was some meaning that was higher than the text. Nichiren rejects this completely. Unfortunately, the SGI/NST philosophy is in this vein , and is completely in opposition to Nichiren.....

You rely on the opinions of Ted Morino or other Gakkai leaders....even if they contradict Nichiren.   This SGI talk is simply "New Age mysticism in Buddhist robes". It is not Nichiren Buddhism. (It's easy for Ted Morino to tell you anything because you haven't looked it up for yourself. Isn't this risky, like taking a stock broker's word for an investment? I had no luck until I read everything for myself).

Like it or not, Nichiren was a strict fundamentalist. His words, "All other sutras lead to hell" is a direct quote, correctly translated. Jesus is a "bad teacher" and his teaching causes terrible suffering, especially after death......only Nichiren used the name "Honen" in this type of example. Obviously, he didn't know about Jesus, but the principle is the same. Sorry to shock you, but it's not me who says so, it's Nichiren himself. And Nichiren says that if people find him to be too strict, then they must consider Shakyamuni to be even more strict in the Lotus Sutra. Nichiren merely reiterates the teaching that Shakyamuni transmitted to him at the ceremony in the air (Chapter 11-22 of the Lotus Sutra).

Instead of going on in this vein, let me be blunt. You practice Soka-"Buddhism", not Nichiren Buddhism.  Do you think that a fake honzon can give the same benefit as a real one? The answer is that you are not getting the benefits that Nichiren described. I don't doubt that you feel your practice benefits you. Christians get benefits also, even miracles. So does every religion in the world, including paganism, shamanism, even Norman Vincent Peale's positive thinking. It's not the yardstick that we can use to compare the "results". I can use my mental strength to create a miracle, because the human mind is truly remarkable. However, the human mind is not the equivalent of the Buddha mind, even though the latter is found in each of us.

Don't you see that the lack of knowledge about Nichiren (what have you been reading for 14 years? Ikeda? WT? But never the Lotus Sutra? Does this pass the "rationality test"?)....this lack of knowledge about Nichiren has fueled a philosophy that is completely removed from the original writings.  You can recite the daimoku, but if it doesn't reflect the truth, then you miss the benefit. This kind of chanting will lead you to someday find the Lotus Sutra again, perhaps in a future life, but it misleads you now. Shall I quote Goshos that are specific on this point? I'm not saying this to inflame you or to give you "fire and brimstone". It's the exact teaching that Nichiren presented, and it mirrors the Lotus Sutra perfectly. If you truly believe that the Lotus Sutra is removed from Shakyamuni and the Daimoku of Nichiren, then your chanting is a provisional teaching, not the true teaching. (I'm paraphrasing a specific gosho, this is not my own invention.) I wish it were otherwise, then it would be easy to "receive and keep" this teaching. But it's very hard to believe and practice in an evil age, harder that to carry a load of dry grass through a fire without getting burned, etc.

You're happy with SGI's version of Nichiren, but don't fool yourself into thinking that the benefit "is all the same". And don't expect me or anyone else who has walked both roads to buy into the SGI"crock". I've been there and back. So have many others. As for the "world peace" angle, more people have quit SGI than have stayed . Conservatively, 600,000 Gohonzons have been sold in this country but the membership today is probably under 20,000. Do the math for yourself. If there is so much benefit via the SGI way, why have so many left? People don't leave if they are benefitting from something. Realistically, the Gakkai is a means to drive people away from the Lotus Sutra and Nichiren. How many Americans have a bad taste in their mouth for Nichiren, just because they were shuttled through the SGI? How many people can tolerate the heavy handed "senior leader" tyranny? How many lives have been ruined, marriages broken up, and careers wasted? How many people have been crushed by the demands of insane activities, min-ons, conventions and inane [or insane] "guidances" In order to create "world peace" SGI would have to go back and win these people back again. It won't happen.

Don't bother to convince me otherwise on these points, I saw more in my years with SGI than you can even imagine. And I talk to new people every day, who left five or more years ago. It hasn't changed and the horror stories are still the same. My e-mail is full of posts from people who write about their pain over the SGI experience. Do you think that these people are lying to me, and would waste their time in writing if they hadn't been spiritually duped or abused by "leaders"? Shall I believe you and tell these people that they must be mistaken? Shall I adopt the stance of "denial", and lie to myself about what I went through? I see very  clearly the pattern that my life had in SGI. It's only because I practice the orthodox way that I can see with crystal clarity what my own life is about, and what it was about then. I am being specific here, and the precise experiences that I refer to are the basis of my spiritual convictions. They are significant and substantial, not just "feelings".

Are you saying that this "actual" proof of mine is invalid? Or that I can't compare the differences between then and now? Are you doubting my experience that the real benefit did not happen until I "parted from the false and adopted the true"? (That's from the sutra.)

If you find Nichiren's words too harsh to accept at face value, then stay with Ikedaism. But don't try to convince me that "it's all the same". The "results" are completely different and the final destinations are in opposite directions. I'm sorry you don't study for yourself but rely on "scholars" like Ted Morino .........it's lethal. You can accept the New Age philosophy without much personal damage....but when you use new Age to destroy the teaching of Nichiren, then there's a different effect. As Nichiren says, "You can strike mud with your fist without damage but if you strike a rock, then your hand will break. To attack other teachings is as if striking mud. To attack the Lotus Sutra which SGI says has no power is to strike a rock. It doesn't matter if you do so in ignorance, your hand will still break. It doesn't matter if you give the order to kill people or if you are the soldier who carries out the order, the retribution is the same. Teacher and disciple fall to hell together. Do you recognize these last two statements? They're directly from Nichiren.

I sincerely hope you consider both sides carefully. We are a network, not a "leader-based' organization like SGI, so don't think that I'm trying to get you to switch for the sake of "our side".   The purpose of this post is not to drum up membership, like some "shakabuku campaign".

The issue is doctrine only and the truth. Not some interpretation (based sadly on lies)......all "benefits" flow from the truth. The philosophy that you described in your letter (SGI new-age Buddhism) is not Nichiren. No amount of rationalization will make it so. At least admit to the "revisionism" of SGI and consider seriously if it hasn't altered the truth. Then consider what benefit can come from adopting the truth, and what harm comes from accepting a lie. Base it on the words of the Lotus Sutra and Nichiren only. Don't make "us" the issue. It's cult mentality to attack the messenger, to see things as "us" vs. "them". Remove "us" from the discussion and look at the issue of doctrine only. If you don't study the doctrine you can be duped.

Sowing, maturing, and harvesting

The members of SGI and NST have had their eyes "opened" by the Devil of the Sixth Heaven. They worship a different "Sutra", they worship a different "Eternal Buddha", they even eliminate a "character" when they recite Daimoku. But on the outside it looks similar. This is what Shakyamuni refers to as the "mirror dharma" and He and Nichiren teach that the Mara devil can disguise himself as a golden Buddha.  We have little in common with Taisekaji or SGI.

Shakyamuni and Nichiren NEVER taught that planting seeds is the way of propagation in Mappo. Quite the opposite, this is the age for forceful practices. Planting seeds is done when there is no longer slander. No more slander will occur when fundamental darkness has been vanquished and there is no more slander toward the Lotus Sutra. SGI, contrary to Nichiren, suggests that we accept "slanderers of the dharma" so long as we get along.

Nichiren's tradition is built on Nichiren's, Nichiju's, and others intense activities of admonishing slander, and went hand in hand with an equally rigorous observance of never giving alms to nor receiving them from slanderers. Some priests and lay believers even refused to accept alms offered by devotees of rival lines. Nichiju's favorite line from the Lotus Sutra was, "grudge not bodily life" (fushaku shimyo). Nichiren believers were famous for living this line of the Lotus Sutra and they thus won the support of the Kyoto townspeople.

From Nichiju's intense activities, other temples such as "Myokenji" and "Honkokuji" became very aggressive. Between 1378 and 1444 a total of six monks left Myokenji because they became unhappy with the conservative "geshu" policy of the temple. At "Honkokuji", Nichijin left because he took the initiative and established is own temple, the Honzenji in 1357. The trend had been set toward a very aggressive form of propagation, and Nichiju and his followers were largely responsible for this.

Nichiju built his propagation on aggressive shakubuku, debate, admonition and fuju-fuse [never giving never receiving]. In hopes of bringing solidarity to the Buddhist community, the different Nichiren sects around 1378 decided to set ordinances that people could understand. Nichiryu did this with Myomanji and others with Myokakuji, Myomanji and even Taisekiji.

In 1398 two of Nichiju's disciples at Myomanji carried on the tradition of aggressive propagation. Accompanied by two lay converts and a child, Nichinin sought audience with Ashikaga Yoshimitsu (1358-1408); the latter, who had refused a similar request from Nichiju, had the group tortured. It is said that the crowd waiting the arrival of tortured bodies from Yoshimitsu's court was as large as that which would gather at the Gion festival. Undaunted, the two disciples later went on to admonish Emperor Go-Komatsu in 1403 and Shogun Yoshimochi in 1408.

Nichiren's teaching begins and ends with the Lotus Sutra. He was transmitting the tradition of scripture worship, which had its origin in early Mahayana Buddhism Practices. Based on Nichiren's writings we can tell that his attitude toward the Lotus Sutra was one of scripture worship, as opposed to relic worship. Nichiren gave personality to the Lotus Sutra. Nichiren was the first person to not only to arrive at the supremacy of the scripture, but he experienced it personality.

Nichiren, based on his writings, believed that while the Lotus Sutra contained the highest truth for salvation, the path to it was subject to the "three-countries, four teachers" doctrine. The three countries of course are India, China and Japan, the four teachers are the Historical Shakyamuni, Chih-I, Saicho and Nichiren himself. Although Nichiren gave credit to Chih-I and Saicho, he himself saw, from his perspective, that the times were now degenerate (Mappo) and the people were spiritually weak, much different from that of his two predecessors.

Next, Nichiren believed for him, the second half of the Lotus Sutra (chapters 15 to 28) was his path. This of course is when the Eternal Buddha appears for the first time and reveals that the first half of the Lotus Sutra was preached by his "earthly manifestation" or trace, the historical Buddha.

It was Nichiren who introduced the concept of "hiho shobo" (slander of the True Dharma), or "hobo" for short. The True Dharma, of course is the Lotus Sutra, ALL OTHER SCRIPTURES he considered false and hence their subscribers slanderers.

From the Rissho Ankoku-ron we see that Nichiren's thinking on what constitutes slander was based on the following passages from the Lotus Sutra. In it, the Buddha enumerates the type of slanderers who obstruct the propagation of the sutra:

Also, Sariputra,

(1) to the proud, arrogant,
(2) lazy, and indolent,
(3) to those who reckon in terms of "I",
Do not preach this scripture.
(4) To the ordinary fellow of shallow perception,
(5) Profoundly addicted to the five desires,
(6) Hearing yet unable to understand,
Also, do not preach.
(7) If a man not believing,
(8) Malign this scripture
Then he cuts off all Worldly Buddha-seeds.
(9) Or, again, he may with contorted face,
(10) Harbor doubts and uncertainties.
You are now to hear me tell
Of that man's retribution for his sins:
Whether the Buddha be in the world,
Or whether it be after his passage into extinction,
(11) There shall be those who malign
Such scriptures as this one
And who, seeing that there are readers and reciters,
And copiers, and keepers of this scripture,
(12) Shall, in disparagement, deprecation, (13) Hatred,
And envy of them,
(14) Harbor grudges against them,
The retribution for these men's sins
You are now to hear:
These men, at life's end,
Shall enter the Avici Hell.

Nichiren saw, based on his many writings, that one can atone for their past sins only by accepting the title, propagating it, and confronting one's persecutors.

In the Lotus Sutra, we see two ways of attaining our goal, the moderate (Shoju) and aggressive (Shakubuku). In Shoju, the believer gently persuades the slanderer to accept the Lotus Sutra. Nichiren likened this moderate approach to a compassionate mother coaxing her child to accept her ways or to the warrior's pursuit of literary arts.

In Shakubuku, we see a more direct and argumentative approach, concentrating on the prospects weakness and admonishing him that he can improve only by accepting the title. This is like a father's stern remonstrance or the warrior's pursuit of military arts.

Nichiren said the the two were inseparable, but depending on the time and person involved either could take precedence over the other. Nichiren was clearly convinced that the people in this time period, (the degenerate world), would only convert through the aggressive method, and only this way could save them.

There is only one teaching for this time period. There are not two suns in the sky. Graham Lamont repeatedly referred to the "older teachings". This is misleading because there are not "old teachings" and "new teachings". There is only the "one teaching".  Some SGI and Nichiren Shoshu members say, "let us practice our way!". This is wrong. There is not a different teaching for each different sect or personality. There is only the Lotus Sutra.

From the Sage and an Unenlightened Man:

"Now in widely propagating the Buddhist teachings and bringing salvation to all people, one must first take into consideration the teaching, the capacity of the people, the time, the country and the sequence of propagation."

"It is a mistake to practice shakubuku at a time when shoju is called for, and equally erroneous to practice shoju when shakubuku is appropriate."

"Shoju is to be practiced when throughout the entire country only the Lotus Sutra has spread, and when there is not even a single misguided teacher expounding erroneous doctrines."

"If, failing to understand this principle, one were to practice shoju or shakubuku at an inappropriate time, then not only whould he be unable to attain Buddhahood, but he would fall into the evil paths."

How one sows the seeds in this degenerate age is of utmost importance. Merely scattering seeds will not work when the field is of poor quality. Tilling and harrowing [arousing them to accept] is the method for sowing the seeds in this latter degenerate age. The Geshu [scattering seeds] method may fit your personality but it is not the correct way to propagate the Lotus Sutra in this time period. Our practice is not Geshu but rather "aggressive shakubuku". Likewise, in order to cause the seeds of Buddhahood to sprout [mature] one must diligently carry out the Buddhist practice of intensely admonishing slander. Only then will we be able to harvest the fruit of Buddhahood.

What do you think? If the Human Revolution contradicts the Lotus Sutra should we throw out the Lotus Sutra or the Human Revolution

"Question: The meaning of the scripture is clear. Are there words of predictions by T'ien-t'ai, Miao-lo, Dengyo, and others?

Answer: Your question is upside down! When someone quotes a treatise one might raise a question about the scripture. But if there is clear understanding in the scripture, you need not ask for a treatise. Now, if the sentence in the treatise contradicts the scripture, would one throw away the scripture and follow the treatise? What do you think?" -- Essay on the Selection of the Proper Time

Protection

SGI claims that one is "always protected" in the SGI even when too many young SGI members die untoward and preventable deaths. The untoward death of a believer, one of the Four Devils [of the Three Obstacles and Four Devils], is an exceedingly rare occurrence in the lives of the votaries of the Lotus Sutra. On the other hand, in the lives of Soka Gakkai members, especially leaders, it is a fairly common occurrence as can testify Daisaku Ikeda, Guy McCloskey, and the now deceased Shin Yatomi and David Kasahara.

The bright mirror of the Lotus Sutra and Gosho illuminates the darkness of SGI.

SGI members are the last to know about changes in SGI doctrine and practices. It is extremely bizarre that, when others have known for years about the direction to which SGI was going, the leaders and members denied each and every change with every fiber of their being but once the changes are affirmed by their Sensei, they not only readily accept and laud the changes but state that there are no changes, we have always believed thus. The bright mirror of the Lotus Sutra and Gosho illuminates the darkness of SGI.

Mitsubishi kills them then SGI buries them

The following from anticult.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Soka Gakkai are a perfect match.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries say they are going "Green" and a partial weapons list is below.

The difference with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and SGI, is when MHI tells their "Greenwashing" lies, no rational person is going to believe them, and understands its just corporate propaganda to maximize profits and to try to distract some of the general public who don't pay attention.

But with SGI, they try to hide behind "religion" but also work very hard to distract the public from the facts of reality.

There are actually reports of SGI and Mitsubishi misdeeds, as well as reports that SGI's main financing bank is The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi. Of course, the problem is SGI keeps all of their finances secret, so only Ikeda and his family know where the money is, and where it went.

"In March 1990, a swirl of accusations over a mysterious transaction involving the Soka Gakkai, the Mitsubishi Corp and two Renoir paintings in which nearly 1.5 billion yen had gone missing."

"The organization operates five cemeteries in Japan through a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corps. In May 1991, Soka Gakkai paid 640 million yen in profits from the sale of gravestones over the three year period ending in March 1990."

The spying charges against Soka Gakkai International France, which claims 152,000 members, were further detailed in a recent issue of the Shukan Bunshun. Quoting the newspaper Le Parisien, it reported that a secret network of Soka Gakkai operatives allegedly infiltrated the Mitsubishi group offices in Paris, which were used as cover for intelligence operations. It did not specify whether the secret agents were corporate employees sent from Japan or local hires, or a combination of both.

"Lifeblood received by only a single person"

Nichiren Shingon Shoshu

"The suspicion and hostility in your message speaks volumes about where your life has gone, and I'm deeply sorry to see it." -- SGI Senior Leader admonishing me

"If someone is about to kill your father and mother, shouldn't you try to warn them? If an evil son who is insane with drink is threatening to kill his father and mother, shouldn't you try to stop him?"  (Opening of The Eyes, pg. 212)

"Then at times there are others who fail to observe the precepts and, as soon as they finish listening to the priest, are enraged to the point where they are about to attack him. Someone who preaches the Dharma in this way, though he may in the end lose his life, is still worthy of being called a person who observes the precepts and brings merit to both himself and others."(ibid pg. 209)

I've been waiting for thirty-nine years

"If we think of the Dai-Gohonzon of the High Sanctuary, which has been treasured at the Head Temple, as the exact root, then all other  Gohonzon are branches and leaves. In other words, the Gohonzon enshrined in each temple or the Gohonzon that we have received and to which we do gongyo every morning and evening are all inscribed by each successive High Priest. These are all transcriptions of the Dai-Gohonzon of the High Sanctuary, and the great power of benefits arising from them is the benfeit coming entirely from the Dai-Gohonzon, the source.

However, if we think that all Gohonzons are the same, forgetting and not seeking the source (the Dai-Gohonzon), we will not be able to receive benefits and attain Buddhahood. It is like a branch that has been cut off, losing all supplies of nutrients, and withers away." -- Susan Nichiren Shoshu member

All I am asking for is one sentence of proof in Nichiren Daishonin's or Nikko Shonin's hand... I can't hear you. Speak up. What, you couldn't find one but you will ask your priest? Ok, I've been waiting for thirty-nine years. I guess I can wait a little longer. In the mean time, I will keep my copy of the Nichiren inscribed Gohonzon for the Transmission of the Dharma while I await your proof.

Believing everything the SGI teaches despite evidence to the contrary is a sign of brainwashing.

For example, believing the SGI teaching that you are equal to the mentor though only he benefits personally from your donations and purchases is clearly an indication of brainwashing.

Lie detector questions to ask SGI top leaders

Q: Did SGI alter Gosho translations?
Q: Does Ikeda himself write all of his books and guidances?
Q: Have you ever paid ghostwriters and asked them to sign non-disclosure agreements?
Q: Have you ever submitted a copyright application for Namu Myoho renge kyo?
Q: Do members donations go towards purposes other than to which they are assigned?

SGI's fantasy spin

"It was a split. We knew we couldn't grow into the type of religion, the type of organization, to actually achieve Kosen Rufu and accomplish our Human Revolution under the thumb of the evil self-serving priests. So we left Taisekeji as Nikko left Minobu" -- Jim SGI Senior Leader

No Jim. You were excommunicated for changing the Nichiren Shoshu doctrines and verbally abusing the priests.

The garbage from which we grew

Linda Welker [former SGI senior leader]: "I tend to give people credit that they will do the right thing I did the same with this area's leadership. I refused to see that their actions were intentional. I am embarrassed that it took me six years of chanting, studying, and meeting with leaders to stand up and do the right thing.

SGI leader: Linda, I wouldn't feel 'embarrassed.' It took me a long time too. Is 6 years REALLY a long time? How long have we been accumulating the karma, making the same causes over and over again, to defer to others based on superficial criteria; to fail to follow our own inner compass?

I'm challenging the situations that come my way as i practice in the SGI-USA, and things are going GREAT. Becoming the kind of person who can speak out when we know that others are deviating in some small way or other is a great thing for our own lives.

Linda Welker: If you're going to wave around a *karma stick* addressed to me personally, please sign your post with your name, not your e-mail nick. If you're embarrassed that it has taken two weeks for an SGI member to pass my post on to you for response, then e-mail me privately, but please identify yourself.

SGI leader: Hello-oooo, Linda, is that really you? You no longer sound like the same person who I started exchanging messages with a few months ago. What has happened to you? You no longer sound likea person who practices Nichiren Daishonin's buddhism. This is Soren!

I'm sorry, jeez, I forgot to sign my message. Sheesh.

The suspicion and hostility in your message speaks volumes about where your life has gone, and I'm deeply sorry to see it. Speaking out on deviations in some small way or other is easy.

Linda Welker: Not really, not in my experience.

Namu Myoho Renge Kyo.

SGI leader: You've got to be kidding. That's called 'jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire, Linda.' [becoming a Kempon Hokke member].

Linda Welker:

Dear Soren,

Not from the pan into the fire at all. I'm sorry to see you post such an obvious attempt to manipulate what I was saying by using the, "Becoming the kind of person who can speak out when we know that others are deviating in some small way or other is a great thing for our own lives", tactic. I have never felt I was "addressing small deviations". Unfortunately, there were no *SGI friends* locally to tell me I was trying to practice with the wrong sect.

The SGI organization in place locally is taking care of itself nicely. It is closing in on itself, and will continue to do so. Just as everything recycles, so must the corporate SGI. Time for a change. The only unchanging reality is Myoho Renge Kyo.

My faith in Myoho Renge Kyo does not require corporate SGI to pat me on the head and give me a treat. Personally, Soren, I wish you the best.

My response to "jumping out of the frying pan...": More correctly, "jumping out of the garbage can" into the clear world of the Eternal Buddha.
SGI member responds: True Buddhism teaches buddha-nature is manifest in all places, infinite and boundless. After all, did not the Lotus grow in the garbage?
My response: Taisekeji and SGI is the garbage from which we grew.

Pity for SGI lawyer and Vice General Director Guy McCloskey

He has been abused and brain-washed by the Soka Gakkai and MUST live a lie because he has built his whole life around the SGI lie. He has experienced much misfortune in his life because of his slander of the Law. For these reasons he is angry. It is not surprising that he throws a YMD against a wall but is too cowardly to respond here.

Nichiren on the peace and tranquility of the nation

"Nonetheless, as I ponder on such methods in light of the Buddhist teachings, I am compelled to conclude that the peace and tranquility of the entire nation will be ensured if those committing slanderous acts are strictly corrected, and  priests practicing the correct way are held in high esteem." -- Establishing the Right Law for the Peace of the Land

"Errors in the application of the Buddhist teachings can bring about the destruction of a nation"

"To examine one’s face one has only to look in a clear mirror, and to understand the rise and fall of a nation’s fortunes, there is no mirror more revealing than that provided by the Buddhist teachings.

When one examines the various Mahayana sutras such as the Benevolent Kings Sutra, Golden Light Sutra, Sovereign Kings Sutra, Protection Sutra, Nirvana Sutra, and Lotus Sutra, one sees that there are cases in which, by adhering to Buddhist teachings, a nation may prosper and its people enjoy long life, and others in which, while likewise adhering to Buddhist teachings, the nation is brought to ruin and its people’s lives are cut short. It is comparable to the case of water, which is capable of floating a boat, but is also capable of capsizing it. Or it is like the five kinds of grain, which at times nourish human life but at other times may injure it.

Little waves and a slight wind can hardly do harm to a large ship, but high waves and strong winds can easily overturn a small ship. Similarly, slight irregularities in the secular rule of the sovereign are like little waves and a slight wind and can do little harm to a great nation or a great man. But errors in the application of the Buddhist teachings, like high waves and strong winds that overturn a small ship, can without doubt bring about the destruction of the nation."

SGI either knows nothing about Nichiren Daishonin's Lotus Sutra Buddhism, they are lying, or they practice a different teaching than he.

"According to the Gosho, it is not Christians who are enemies of the Lotus Sutra. That religion has no power. Shakubuku is meant for heretical sects of Buddhism, which have the power to destroy like the parasite in the lion's bowels. It is absolutely not effective to go around slamming the religion of Christians, Jews, Muslims, other Judeo-Christian or pagan peoples, etc. If that is what you mean by shakubuku. Shoju is definitely appropriate for such people, and darned if I don't know the Gosho passage off hand, but I can find it if you aren't familiar with this concept." -- SGI WD leader

When is the last time SGI took to task the Tibetians, Zennists, True Word, Tendai, and Theravadan Buddhists? Also, could you point out where Nichiren praised the Brahmans, Taoists, and non-Buddhists in general? He stated that they were even inferior to the Hinayana. SGI sometimes brings up that Nichiren taught that other religions are an introduction to Buddhism. Yes, and he also points out that once the pagoda is complete, the scaffold is discarded.
