    The only major sect of Lotus Buddhism that seems to stress the actual study of Buddhism is Kempon Hokke. Perhaps Nichiren-shu, too.

    The HBS reduces everything to a magic spell for obtaining health & granting wishes. Similar with SGI (human success as number one goal).

    Thus one should speak not only of the transubstantiated wooden plank of NST, but also of the wish-fulfilling magic spell of HBS & SGI.

  3. Honmon Butsuryu Shu, the third largest "Nichiren" sect with over 1.3 million adherents, considerably more than the Nichiren Shoshu and Kenshokai. They too coopt the Daimoku while basing their teachings on those of the priest Nissen.
