According to Nichiren, even Soka Gakkai and Nichiren Shoshu should pay reverence to Shakyamuni Buddha.

"...but in all cases one honors Shakyamuni Buddha as the source of the teachings and the other Buddhas as merely testifying to their worth. And in the same way, although there are various different schools of Buddhism, they all ought to pay reverence to Shakyamuni."
