On Stupid Persons

"And so, when I, neither hesitating to speak out nor fearing others, tell them frankly that they are stupid persons who have misunderstood the true meaning of the Buddhist teachings, and that they are slanderers of the Law; when I deliver a sharp rebuke to them, mindful of the Buddha’s golden words "then that monk is betraying Buddhism" and trusting in the passage of scripture that reads, "We will be envoys of the World Honored One, facing the assembly without fear"; when I do this, censuring those who 'suppose they have attained what they have not attained, being proud and boastful in heart,' then how can they fail to turn upon me with hatred and jealousy?" - The Teachings in Accordance With the Buddha's Mind}

Mostly, I get kicked off the forums when I call others stupid. With SGI members who suppose to have attained what they have not, when I call them stupid persons, they call into question my behavior. I usually smile and go on realizing that they in fact are indeed stupid persons.

It is the Latter Day of the Law. We can expect to come into contact with many stupid and evil persons. Stupid Buddhists are the most stupid of all because they should know better.

  1. You are the only authority on Buddhism I listen to. I did not understand the lotus sutra at all till I started reading your blog. I was.a member of sgi. Now I study the lotus sutra and get it. Even with those years wasted it is worth it. Probly would not have happened without dr rogow. Thankyou so much . I chant. I am filled with peace of mind in the knowledge of what shakyamuni truly preached. It took me, most of my life to get here. I hope others can and will get here

  3. Thank you again and again. Stupid persons think that what I do is for my own aggrandizement. Nothing could be further from the truth. What I do is to fulfill my Bodhisattva vows and point all people to the Lotus Sutra and the writings of Nichiren.

  4. I posted this today on a blog where I'm said to show disrespect and that I'm contentiousness which is the reason why some of my posts and messages have been deleted. I raised the issue of the White Lotus Gohonzon and the pronounciation of Daimoku and the Sokagakkai prohibiting the sharing of their online material

Nichiren dosen't mince his words, does he when dealing with the enemies of the Lotus sutra. How long do you think he would last here speaking like that???

The Teaching in Accordance with the Buddha's Own Mind
The reason is this. All people are concerned about their next
lifetime, but the priests and nuns, who would appear to ponder more deeply about this than other men and women, in fact set aside the matter of rebirth in the pure land and act as intermediaries in helping people get along well in this present lifetime. Wise persons and sages are also given to insisting that they are correct and superior to others, that they are heirs to the teachings of a certain founder and that they have legitimate claim to a certain domain. They place great emphasis upon fame and personal gain, and give little thought to any kind of serious search for the way.
And so, when I, neither hesitating to speak out nor fearing others, tell them frankly that they are stupid persons who have misunderstood the true meaning of the Buddhist teachings, and that they are slanderers of the Law; when I deliver a sharp rebuke to them, mindful of the Buddha’s golden words "then that monk is betraying Buddhism" and trusting in the passage of scripture that reads, "We will be envoys of the World Honored One, facing the assembly without fear"; when I do this, censuring those who "suppose they have attained what they have not attained, being proud and boastful in heart," then how can they fail to turn upon me with hatred and jealousy?

The mighty sword of the Lotus Sutra must be wielded by one courageous in faith. Then he will be as strong as a demon armed with an iron staff." Nichiren

    2. Great advice! Katie wants to debate me. I told her, here I will debate you (not in private e-mails). Haven't yet heard from them. They claim I am afraid to debate. They can not pick the place without my input. Even on the Reddit Nichiren would be a good place, wherever the most people will see the debate.

  6. O was banned from the forum after posting what Nichiren said about Stupid people. Here is the reaction from the moderator:

Noel Panton Hoss, I think you are somewhat confused to say the lest. I ain't a monk, don't want to be a monk, and all you want to do is hide behind scripture to spout about your righteousness in correcting others. Great. Correct me. I am totally wrong to you.
Thing is, the stuff you are quoting Nichiren about is taken totally out of context man. You sound like one of the bible thumpers around these parts that take a few words here, a few words there, and paste it all together and bake in their oven of duplicity and crack the congregants over the head with the cake that come out.
You are just pissed cause you are being shown the door. You can either respect others here or leave. If you keep it up, I will enforce my obligation to maintain peace and good order by removing you. it that is not plain to you and this group is not valuable to you, then test it and see what it gets you brother.
Now, that said, You need to look a bit deeper into the Gosho WND II: 221 Dialogue on the Lotus and Pure Land Teachings
    ( pp.411 - 416 ) found on page 415
T’ien-t’ai’s teachings also speak of a reward land or pure land, but do not view it as a realm separate from the impure land. As the Daishonin says, “There are not two lands, pure or impure in themselves. The difference lies solely in the good or evil of our minds”
also in Gosho WND I: 1 On Attaining Buddhahood in This Lifetime
    ( pp.3 - 5 ) page 4
"With this conviction you should strive in faith. The Vimalakīrti Sutra states that, when one seeks the Buddhas’ emancipation in the minds of ordinary beings, one finds that ordinary beings are the entities of enlightenment, and that the sufferings of birth and death are nirvana. It also states that, if the minds of living beings are impure, their land is also impure, but if their minds are pure, so is their land. There are not two lands, pure or impure in themselves. The difference lies solely in the good or evil of our minds."
Now when a person is intent on stirring up a pile of poo, what do you think that mind is full of? Pure, or impure?
All I can say is if you don't like it here, then leave. Otherwise you are welcome to be here and share your insights with us, but either be respectful or you will get booted. That is as plain as I can make it. You may be on so,me sort of crusade or other, but all the disrespect and contention will get you is memories.
I don't know what issue you have about authority figures, but I'm not here to fix you. I will try to help if I can, but if you don't value our company, then go ahead and ride that white stallion of yours at all those windmills and see if your life improves in doing so. I've done that sort of quixotic sort of false knight escapades, and I can tell you it leads to misery, but you can find that out for yourself if you care to continue with this sort of nonsense.

  7. Hi Noel. So many honors! Which web site. See how long it takes for me to get the boot. They don't like the real Nichiren, it seems. Out with The Scripture of the Fine Dharma of the Lotus Flower Sutra...

In truth he has been leading all beings to his enlightenment for an unimaginably long time, and will continue to lead us for twice that time into the future. We approach the Buddha’s true wisdom when we see the purpose of our existence as benefiting all beings, and are certain that the outcome of whatever troubles us now is the enlightenment of all beings"

Hi...Regarding the above I see it as the Historical Shakyamuni Buddha will be Buddha twice as long in the future as he has been in the past so that's a lot of reincarnations. It also implies once a Buddha not always a Buddha!
There is another aspect of the historical Shakyamuni Buddha which is the Eternal Shakyamuni Buddha that knows not Birth & Death or is bound by time and space but manifests as the 3 bodied Tathagata Thus come one Mamu Myoho Renge Kyo which manifests though our thought, words and actions as that of the enlightened states of the ten worlds!

Would like to hear your opinion on my interpretation

  10. Shakyamuni of India, Nichiren, the Buddha's of the ten directions, the Bodhisattvas of the Earth, you and I are reflections or emanations of the Eternal Buddha. Nichiren describes him as the moon in the sky and we as the moon's reflections on a body of water... "Two but not two and one but not one."

  11. I just wrote the following on Stand Together Nichiren Buddhists:“...

If there are those who possess differing ideas concerning the three treasures, then truly you should know that these people can no longer hope to take refuge in, or rely upon, the three pure treasures. They will never gain benefit from any of the precepts, and in the end, they will fail to obtain the fruits of the voicehearer, the cause-awakened one, or the bodhisattva.” This passage is clearly referring to [the essential point of ] the “Life Span” chapter of the Lotus Sutra..." (The Third Doctrine)

How do reconcile that many so-called Nichiren Buddhists have different Three Treasures in light of Nichiren's teachings above?
