who were the Japanese Tendai priests, Jikaku, Chisho, and Annen?

 They were originally disciples of the Great Teacher Dengyo (Saicho) the Great. Dengyo was a Tientai priest who followed the Great Teacher Tientai and who revered the Lotus Sutra as the foremost teaching of the past, present, and future. They turned their back on the Lotus Sutra and their teacher Dengyo and for all intents and purposes became Shingon prelates. 

Similarly, the priests and leaders of the Soka Gakkai, the Nichiren Shoshu, and the Nichiren Shu turned their backs on their teacher, Nichiren Daishonin, altering and deleting his teachings. Soka Gakkai and Nichiren Shoshu went so far to teach that the Lotus Sutra has lost its power in this Latter Day.
