Do you believe that having a differing Three Treasures than prescribed by the Lotus Sutra and Nichiren is minor? Do you think that the practice of interfaith is minor? Is believing and teaching that an intermediary such as a high priest or Daisaku Ikeda is necessary to attain Enlightenment minor? I maintain that these are major slanders of the Lotus Sutra and I venture to guess that Nichiren would think so also. In fact, I'm sure. How about supporting Donald Trump for a short time? What about believing in a woman's right to choose. These are minor slanders. These are gray areas. Major slander is falsehood regarding the teachings. Of course there are gray areas, such as the principle of adapting to the customs of a country. We have not done well in this area but it is beyond the scope of my response to go into detail. How few have tasted the amrita of the Lotus Sutra and writings of Nichiren, have drank from the elixir of eternal life? I will always maintain that the Transmission or Succession is through the Scrolls of the Sutra, Gohonzon and writings of Nichiren and nowhere else.
The truth of the Lotus Sutra and the practice of devotion to this Supreme Law, is beyond illusory distinctions.
ReplyDeleteThe key is complete repentance and Daimoku or the pure ICHINEN with is chanting Daimoku in your heart even if there is no awareness of Nichiren or the Lotus Sutra.
Real Jiyu no Bosatsu were already purified and trained since infinity. They have no doubts and differences.
what do you mean, beyond illusory distinctions. Regardless, I have no doubts and when they crop up from time to time, I do as Nichiren advises and muster my faith. Thanks for the comment.
