Christian: Worship Jesus or fall into hell.
Muslim: Bow to Allah, the all merciful and wise.
Hebrew: Yahweh is great, fearsome and all powerful. Believe in him with your whole heart.
Hindu: Believe and worship Brahma or fall into hell.
Lotus Sutra Buddhist: Jesus, Allah, Yahweh, and Brahma worship us, the votaries of the Lotus Sutra.
No no no — such crazy talk is exactly what gives NICHIREN Buddhists a bad name.
ReplyDeleteThat is apparently what you’re fishing for - right? You want to be criticized for stating a difficult to believe and understand LS truth?
Get brownie points for your brazen proclamations ?
However , sir, what you fail to realize is that the teachings aren’t criticized - and the feedback you’re getting to check yourself and your motives is true Buddhist mercy.
It’s the heart that matters most -
Question where yours has gone ? Worry about and pray for youš

You think you are worshipped?
ReplyDeleteThat’s not as sad as your claiming you are worshipped .
In any case, there is no way to prove your assertions, but every reason to wonder why you make them in the first place.
Low self esteem ? Martyr complex ?Messiah complex?
All of the above.
Tanya
Tanya, you can't discuss the teachings or intelligently discuss the topic so you resort to cult bull baiting (ad Hominem. You have learned well the the art from your mentor, Daisaku Ikeda.
DeletePart 1
ReplyDeleteTanya, you don't believe that that the Buddhist gods worship and protect the Buddha and the votaries of the Lotus Sutra? You have weak faith because it is impossible to develop the requisite strong faith to attain Buddhahood in the Soka Gakkai. Also, apparently, you fail to believe the teachings of the Lotus Sutra and Nichiren. This Gosho, The Rulers of the Lands of the Gods should help you. I also assembled approximately fifty passages that demonstrate the gods, particularly Brahma, Shakra, Taishaku, the Four Heavenly Kings, and the gods of the Sun and the moon protect the Votary of the Lotus Sutra Specifically and the votaries generally. "They press their.palms together and prostrate themselves."
Here are but a few of the passages:
"Most important, one must understand that when the god of the sun rises at dawn in the east, he sends forth his rays of light, opens his heavenly eyes, and observes the southern continent of Jambudvīpa. If there he sees a votary of the Lotus Sutra, he rejoices in heart."
"Moreover, the gods BrahmÄ and Shakra preside over the domain of the Thus Come One Shakyamuni, who is our father, and have been entrusted with the care of priests like us who preach the correct teaching..."
It is stated in one of the sutras5 that the Buddha called together all the BrahmÄs, Shakras, sun and moon deities, four heavenly kings, and dragon gods of this world and the other worlds and said that if in the Former, Middle, or Latter Day of the Law the devil king of the sixth heaven or other evil spirits should take possession of the human sovereign or his subjects and cause them to vex and persecute the Buddha’s disciples, whether those who uphold the precepts, break the precepts, or are without precepts; and if the patron deities, observing and hearing of these events, let even so much as a moment pass by without punishing the offenders, then BrahmÄ and Shakra would send messengers with orders to the four heavenly kings to carry out punishment. If the patron deities of the nation fail to carry out punishment, then BrahmÄ, Shakra, and the four heavenly kings shall punish those deities as well. And the same applies, he said, to BrahmÄ and Shakra themselves. If they fail to carry out punishment, then the BrahmÄs and Shakras of other worlds will invariably step in to punish the BrahmÄ, Shakra, sun and moon gods, and four heavenly kings of this world. If this is not done, the Buddhas of the three existences of past, present, and future will cease to appear in the world, and BrahmÄ and Shakra and the others will lose their positions and for a long time will sink into the great citadel of the hell of incessant suffering."
I am lowborn, but since the sutra is one that BrahmÄ, Shakra, the gods of the sun and moon, the four heavenly kings, the Sun Goddess, and Great Bodhisattva Hachiman protect, those who persecute believers in the Lotus Sutra are surely only swallowing their own swords, or grasping flames in their hands"
Part 2
ReplyDeleteThe Lotus Sutra states:
"The assembly of heavenly gods, dragon kings,
asuras, and others
constantly rained down heavenly flowers
as alms offered to that buddha." - Lotus Sutra Chapter 7
The gods Shakra and Brahma and the sons of gods in Chapter 3 of the Lotus Sutra, Smile and Parable, gave alms to the Buddha as well as the sons of gods:
"The heavenly king Shakra, King Brahma, and the countless sons of gods likewise took their wonderful heavenly robes, heavenly mandarava flowers, and great mandarava flowers and offered them to the Buddha."
The meritorious deeds we (the sons of gods) have done
in this existence or past existences,
and the blessings gained from seeing the Buddha—
Chapter 7, the Parable of the Phantom City teaches;
“At that time the beings of the heaven of the thirty-three gods had earlier spread a lion seat measuring one yojana in height underneath a bodhi tree for the buddha, intending that the buddha should sit on this when he attained supreme perfect enlightenment. As soon as the buddha took his seat there, the Brahma kings caused a multitude of heavenly flowers to rain down, covering the ground for a hundred yojanas around. From time to time a fragrant wind would come up and blow the withered flowers away, whereupon new ones would rain down. This continued without interruption for the space of ten small kalpas as an offering to the buddha. Up until the time he entered extinction, such flowers constantly rained down. The four heavenly kings as their offering to the buddha constantly beat on heavenly drums, while the other heavenly beings played heavenly musical instruments, all for ten small kalpas. Until the buddha entered extinction, such was the state of affairs."

ReplyDeleteI am humbled by passages from the Lotus Sutra , grateful to have encountered the daimoku.
Here you are again, addressing a believer with contempt and making more demeaning accusations. Is this the kind of behavior you imagine the Heavenly Kings, etc. would worship? I think not!
THIS is exactly the behavior that disrupts the faith of others...
"as practice continues and understanding grows" speaks to each of us . How is it that as you claim to have "correct understanding", you grow more and more hostile and entitled ? Aren't you acting against the sutra's "intent" when you post sound bytes that sound totally off the charts, arrogant? Tanya responded to this:
"Lotus Sutra SHOCK and AWE
Christian: Worship Jesus or fall into hell.
Muslim: Bow to Allah, the all merciful and wise.
Hebrew: Yahweh is great, fearsome and all powerful. Believe in him with your whole heart.
Hindu: Believe and worship Brahma or fall into hell.
Lotus Sutra Buddhist: Jesus, Allah, Yahweh, and Brahma worship us, the votaries of the Lotus Sutra."
And then you slam Tanya as not being capable of discussing the teachings "intelligently", when you just made a mockery of them!!
