ReplyDeleteI recently listened to your episode of "The Cult Vault" from a couple years ago. I have been interested in various schools of Buddhism for many years now, and recently started exploring Nichiren. I wanted to ask, what is your personal favorite English translation of the Lotus Sutra? As a young college student, about 20 years ago, I ordered the most available translation, by Burton Watson. However, I recently found out his translation was commissioned by Daisaku Ikeda. He says as much in his introduction, which I'm sure I read at the time but, being an American college kid, it didn't stick out because I had no idea then who Daisaku Ikeda was. I would appreciate your advice in this area.

NST excommunicated Ikeda for fomenting a coup, gave the members 5 or 6 years "to come to their senses" and then excommunicated those who remained with Ikeda. Approximately 800,000 returned to the temple and how many became confused and quit the practice all together thanks to the schism, and you accuse me of fomenting confusion. You are blind indeed.
