What has and continues to happen to SGI leaders is cause and effect. They are destroying the Daishonin's Buddhism piece by piece, a doctrine at a time. They think that they are better than Nichiren Daishonin and that they understand the Lotus Sutra and the times better than he. How much will they throw out of his Buddhism before they are no longer chanting Namu Myoho renge kyo but rather Namu SGI and Namu Ikeda? Has this already happened?

Did Nichiren teach a mechanical repetition of the Daimoku without an abiding faith in the Lotus Sutra ? If so, does that mean you don't believe in the Ten Factors?

Do you think that revering Ikeda is the same as a deep rooted belief in Shakyamuni Buddha? Appearance! Appearance is the first of the Ten Factors and the most important. Do you know who taught that? What did Daisaku Ikeda have to say about this in his original lecture on the heritage of the Ultimate Law of Life?

Do you think that a Nichikan Gohonzon is the same as a Nichiren Gohonzon? Do you think esho funi [oneness of person and the environment] is a doctrine of convenience or do you really believe in esho funi? If you believe in esho funi you are chanting to a slanderers Gohonzon. How could you avoid becoming a slanderer?

Have the countries where the SGI teachings have spread shown any palpable improvement? What about Ghana, France, or Italy which is headed for the worst recession in its history? What about Burma, is that not one of the 192 countries to which SGI Buddhism has spread? What about Sierra Leone, the Phillipines, the United States, Brazil, Venezuela, Ukraine, and Columbia? Is the world any better for the spread of the SGI teachings or is it worse. Maybe a bit of reflection instead of self praise would be in order. You may spread your vile teachings to every country in the universe but since it is not the teaching of the Lotus Sutra or Nichiren Daishonin it still equals zero.

Putting entire faith in Nichiren's words

"If you will truly give consideration to the troubles I have been describing and put entire faith in these words of mine, then the winds will blow gently, the waves will be calm, and in no time at all we will enjoy bountiful harvests." -- On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land

SGI's decade of Great Victory

176 lawsuits filed between the temple and Soka Gakkai from 1991 to 2005:

The temple filed 41
Soka Gakkai filed 135
The temple won 116
Soka Gakkai won 22
38 cases reconciled

"If I am bested you may take away my life!"

"Or if that is not the case (that I am mistaken) and I myself am at fault, then you, the god of the sun, must show me so! Let those disciples be summoned to debate with me, and if I am bested in the argument and yet refuse to change my views, then you gods may take away my life!" -- Nichiren

Four Rules of Textual Interpretation

Four Rules of Textual Interpretation

1. the doctrine (dharma) over the person (puru.sa) presenting it;
2. the spirit (artha) of the text over the words (vya~njana) in which it is presented;
3. the precise meanings (nitaartha) over our interpretations (neyaartha) thereof;
4.direct or immediate knowledge (j~naana) over mediated, discursive consciousness (vij~naana).

Resigning from the Soka Gakkai

Better earlier than later. Better later than never.

Nichiren encourages a disciple

"I, Nichiren, have to some small degree acted as an ally of the Lotus Sutra, and as a result I have met with these great difficulties. How immense, then, must be our gratitude toward Shakyamuni Buddha who, in lifetime after lifetime, has championed the cause of the Lotus Sutra! It is beyond the power of reckoning. Therefore the task set forth in the“Encouraging Devotion” chapter must never for a moment be neglected. More than ever, I look on it as a truly worthy one!

You speak of your desire to retire to the mountains. Although to do so would in general be to forsake the task of carrying out shakubuku, the practice essential to this, the Latter Day of the Law, still I know that you are suffering from illness. Moreover, when we are beset by so many natural disasters and problems of state, and when, no matter how often Iwarn the ruler, because he fails to understand how he himself is responsible, he refuses to believe my words, even I long for a life of retirement. How much more so must that be true in your case!

But if you should for a time retire to a dwelling in the mountain valleys, once your illness is mended and conditions are favorable again, you should set aside thoughts of personal well-being and devote yourself to the propagation of the teachings.

In accordance with your request, I have written out on a separate scroll of paper the prayer for preventing disaster and prolonging life that is appropriate for a practitioner of the Lotus Sutra in the Latter Day of the Law and am sending it herewith. You should recite it once every day without fail. I myself, since the day I first took faith [in the Lotus Sutra], have recited these passages every day, making a vow and praying to the Buddhas and the gods, and although I have encountered great difficulties of various kinds, because of the profound influence of the benefits bestowed by the Lotus Sutra and the golden words ofShakyamuni Buddha, I have managed to survive until today.

Thus you should understand that so long as a practitioner of the Lotus Sutra remains unwavering in faith, free of all false alliances, entrusting himself wholeheartedly to the Lotus Sutra and practicing in accordance with the Buddha’s golden words, he will without fail be able to prevent disaster and prolong his life in this present existence, to say nothing of in the life to come. Splendid recompense will be his, and he will fulfill his great vow to broadly proclaim and propagate the Lotus Sutra."

"Nichiren" Buddhist Thomas Pass the Doobie swears to president Ikeda

"He turned golden (I swear to God he did and it freaked me out)" -- Pass the Doobie

"There are many such wild and absurd stories associated with his name. Such incidents hardly lend support to the assertion that his teachings accord with the will of the Buddha." -- Nichiren Daishonin [Repaying Debts of Gratitude]

Some words of wisdom from Nichiren Daishonin

Question: It is very common for a person to act as a good friend. But is there any proof that the Law can be such a friend?
Answer: It is common enough for a person to act as such a friend. But in this latter age, no true friend is to be found, and thus there is ample proof that the Law can act as such a friend.
Great Concentration and Insight says: “At times following a friend, and at times following the sutra scrolls, one hears the one true teaching of enlightenment that has been described above.”
The meaning of this passage is that one should take the sutra scrolls as one’s good friend.
The Lotus Sutra states: “If when the Lotus Sutra is propagated throughout Jambudvīpa there are those who accept and uphold it, they should think to themselves: This is all due to the authority and supernatural power of Universal Worthy!”79
This passage means that when ordinary people in this latter age put faith in the Lotus Sutra, they are relying upon the power of their goodfriend Universal Worthy.
The sutra also says: “If there are those who accept, uphold, read, and recite this Lotus Sutra, memorize it correctly, practice and transcribe it, you should know that such persons have seen ShakyamuniBuddha. It is as though they heard this sutra from the Buddha’s mouth. You should know that such persons have offered alms to ShakyamuniBuddha.”80
Reading this passage, we can see that the Lotus Sutra is none other than Shakyamuni Buddha himself. For persons who do not have faith in the Lotus Sutra, Shakyamuni Buddha has passed into extinction. But for those who put faith in the sutra, although Shakyamuni Buddha may seem to have passed into extinction, he is still present in the world.
Again the sutra states: “If, after I [Many Treasures] have become a Buddha and entered extinction, in the lands in the ten directions there is any place where the Lotus Sutra is preached, then my funerary tower, in order that I may listen to the sutra, will come forth and appear in that spot to testify to the sutra.”81
This passage tells us that when we chant the name of the Lotus Sutra, the
p.137
Thus Come One Many Treasures, because of this original vow he has taken, will invariably appear before us.

And the sutra further states: “If there should be those who wish me [Many Treasures] to show my body to the four kinds of believers, then let the various Buddhas who are emanations of that Buddha [Shakyamuni] and who are preaching the Law in the worlds in the ten directions all return and gather around that Buddha in a single spot.”82
Shakyamuni, Many Treasures, and the various other Buddhas of theten directions, the bodhisattva Universal Worthy and the others are ourgood friends. If we rely upon this understanding, then with the goodkarma we have accumulated from past existences we can fare evenbetter than did the boy Good Treasures, Ever Wailing or Spotted Feet, and the rest. They encountered good friends of the provisional sutras, but we will encounter good friends of the true sutras. Hence, though they encountered merely bodhisattvas of the provisional sutras, we will be fortunate enough to encounter the Buddhas and bodhisattvas of the true sutras.
The Nirvana Sutra says: “Rely on the Law and not upon persons. . . . Rely on wisdom and not on discriminative thinking.”
To rely on the Law means to rely on the constantly abiding Law of the Lotus and Nirvana sutras. Not relying on persons means not relying on persons who do not themselves rely on the Lotus and Nirvana sutras. Even though they may be Buddhas or bodhisattvas, if they are Buddhas and bodhisattvas who do not rely on the Lotus and Nirvana sutras, they cannot serve as good friends. And how much more is this so if they are merely scholars, translators of the sacred texts, or ordinary teachers!
To rely on wisdom means to rely on the Buddha. Not relying on discriminative thinking means that one does not rely on those who are on the level of near-perfect enlightenment or below.

Gentlemen of wisdom

"The Great Teacher Dengyō has these words of praise: “The Tendai Lotus school is superior to the other schools because of the sutra that it is founded on. Therefore, in declaring its superiority, it is not simply praising itself and disparaging others. I hope that gentlemen of wisdom will examine the matter of sutras and on that basis decide which school they will follow.”

Is that Nichiren?

The true nature of the SGI personality cult

"When I'm thoroughly seeking my mentor, these are the times when I feel most human and these are the times I have access to my own heart." -- Monica Soto-Ouichi national YWD leader presenting Daisaku's Ikeda's lecture on Chapter 2 of the Lotus Sutra

It is essential to refute Guru Yoga

"The True Word school, among others, attempts to destroy the Lotus Sutra. It is essential to refute the True Word teachings..."-- Nichiren Daishonin

The most important True Word teaching is Guru Yoga. The most important Guru Yoga Masters today are Daisaku Ikeda, High Priest Nichinyo, and the Dalai Lama. Their teachings must be refuted.

The Buddha and Nichiren were rich. SGI leaders are impoverished

The character Myo is the rain of the Law. Even in the depths of hell Myo is the rain that puts out the great fires of suffering and delusion. Everything changes save for the eternal nature of the Law and the Buddha. Jihi or Buddhist mercy is the essential nature of Myo. Buddha Shakyamuni displayed his mercy by confronting the nine great persecutions for the sake of people and Nichiren overcame five great persecutions. Both these great men renounced a life of luxury for the sake of the Law. Both could have been or done anything they chose, monarch, adviser to the nation; entrepreneur, physician, or general. They chose to preach the Law, living in the open under the stars or in thatched hermitage. Neither was respected by the powers that be. Ajatashatru loosed a herd of wild elephants on the Buddha and Hojo Takenobu sentenced Nichiren Daishonin to death.

Never let those impoverished SGI leaders who claim to have attained what they have not degrade your faith or your efforts for the Law. You will see in ten or fifteen years who is being tormented by the guards of hell and who is enjoying the boundless benefit of the Law. The rain of Myo benefits all equally, not just "holy" leaders or priests who are anything but holy or true priests. You yourself are a Bodhisattva of the Earth, exalted beings who drink the life sustaining rain of the Law. Never forget this. Never forget the gratitude we owe to Shakyamuni Buddha and Nichiren Daishonin.

SGI has it's one martyr

We have tens of thousands of martyrs who actually were Lotus Sutra practitioners, thousands of whom who were slaughtered in one day at the hands of the Tendai warrior monks in 1536.

Strengthening its ties to Pure Land Nembutsu, SGI drives another stake into Nichiren's heart.

On October 29, three SSA representatives led by General Director Ong Bon Chai, and accompanied by Dr Gwee Yee Hean, paid a courtesy call on the President of the Singapore Buddhist Lodge Amitabha Center, Mr Lee Bock Guan. The visit and discussion further strengthens the understanding and friendship between the two Buddhist organizations.

Danny Nagashima teaches SGI Human Revolution

A young man and new member heard Danny Nagashima shouting, "ISN"T THAT GREAT" and "DON"T YOU THINK SO", as he concluded a lecture on the Human Revolution. The young man goes up to him and asks him why he's shouting. Danny teaches the young man that that is part of one's human revolution, bringing out enthusiasm and passion.

Several weeks later, Danny sees the young man who looks dejected. "What's wrong young man? Don't you remember the discussion we had about enthusiasm and passion?"
The young man replied, "I BEGAN SHOUTING WITH PASSION AND ENTHUSIASM AT WORK AND MY BOSS SAID WE LOST FOUR OF OUR BIGGEST CLIENTS BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY, SO MY BOSS FIRED ME."
Danny rabidly spitting all over the young man: "CONGRATULATIONS!!! JUST AS I TOLD YOU. NOW YOU CAN REALLY DO YOUR HUMAN REVOLUTION!!! YOU WILL HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO CLEAN PRESIDENT IKEDA'S TOILET AND LEARN FROM THE OTHER UNEMPLO..., I MEAN SINCERE YMD LEADERS. YOU CAN EVEN GO INTO THE PROJECTS AND SUPPORT THE DISTRICT LIKE STAN ZIR WHO WAS STABBED IN THE STOMACH FOR SENSEI!!!
Young man: "WILL YOU COME WITH ME?"
Danny: "NO YOUNG MAN. I HAVE A MISSION THAT ONLY I CAN FULFILL AND YOU HAVE YOURS.
Young man: THANK YOU VERY MUCCCHHH!!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Will your grave offenses be wiped out within a space of this lifetime or compounded?

Now if I, Nichiren, insignificant person that I am, were to go here and there throughout the country of Japan denouncing these slanders, then innumerable persons among the four categories of Buddhists who follow erroneous doctrines would in one instant join their innumerable voices in reviling me. At that time the ruler of the nation, allying himself with those priests who slander the Law, would come to hate me and try to have me beheaded or order me into exile. And if this sort of thing were to occur again and again, then the grave offenses that I have accumulated over countless kalpas would be wiped out within the space of a single lifetime. Such, then, was the great plan that I conceived, and it is now proceeding without the slightest deviation. So, when I find myself thus sentenced to exile, I can only feel that my wishes are being fulfilled.

Nevertheless, being no more than an ordinary person, I have at times been apt to regret having taken such a course. And if even I am troubled by such feelings, then how much more so in the case of a woman such as your wife, who is unaware of all the circumstances surrounding the matter. Persons like you and her do not have full knowledge of the Buddhist teachings, and it pains me to think how greatly you must regret that you ever chose to follow Nichiren. And yet, contrary to what might be expected, I hear that you two are even firmer and more dedicated in your faith than I myself, which is indeed no ordinary matter. I wonder if Shakyamuni Buddha himself may have entered your hearts, and it moves me so that I can barely restrain my tears.' -- On Rebuking Slander of the Law and Eradicating Sins"
