Who do we thank?
Who do we thank when we are cured of a serious illness? Do we thank the medicine or the physician and pharmacist? We thank the physician and pharmacist. In like manner, when we chant the Daimoku, we thank Shakyamuni Buddha of the Juryo Chapter of the Lotus Sutra, the great physician who prescribed the medicine and Nichiren Daishonin, the pharmacist who dispensed the medicine.
Shinzo Abe is bringing about the destruction of the Japanese nation
"It also says: “Evil monks, hoping to gain fame and profit, will in many cases appear before the ruler, the crown prince, or the other princes, and take it upon themselves to preach doctrines that lead to the violation of the Buddhist Law and the destruction of the nation. The ruler, failing to perceive the truth of the situation, will listen to and put faith in such doctrines, and proceed to create regulations that are perverse in nature and that do not accord with the rules of Buddhist discipline. In this way he will bring about the destruction of Buddhism and of the nation."
Shinzo Abe listens to and puts faith in the business suited priests of the Soka Gakkai and Komeito and created perverse regulations like the State's Secrets Law and revision of Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution which will bring about the destruction of Buddhism and Japan.
“If persons destroy the teachings of the Buddha, they will have no filial sons, no harmony with their six kinds of relatives, and no aid from the heavenly deities...." -- Nichiren
Daisaku Ikeda's most filial and capable son died of a bleeding ulcer when he was 28 years old; his mother and father never converted to the Soka Gakkai religion; and the Buddhist gods failed to aid him when he most needed their help, in saving the Sho Hondo, the high sanctuary of SGI "Buddhism".
Neither tolerant pluralistic societies nor intolerant monistic societies lead to peace
Only a society based on the Lotus Sutra leads to peace.
Some teachings of Ikedaism
"When I chant, I chant to see the world through Sensei's eyes, to feel the world through his heart..." -- SGI leader
"Only by firmly establishing the great way of the oneness of mentor and disciple in one's own heart can one further the eternal perpetuation of the law." -- SGI guidance
"President Ikeda visited Argentina for the first time and attended a performance, much like the one we are having on July 16th. A German sat in the crowd, he saw President Ikeda and his friends and peers around them, and was truly inspired by the mentor and disciple relationship. That inspiration grew to understanding, which in turn, grew to acceptance.
Today, he believes that once people choose President Ikeda as their mentor, positive results will come with the passage of time. He also believes that once we have received the benefits from this relationship, we should share it with others."
Slander is endemic among those who chant Nam Myoho renge kyo rather than Namu Myoho renge kyo
Those who chant Nam Myoho renge kyo rather than Namu Myoho renge kyo distort and slander the teachings:
Nam—-> "SGI mentor", "Nichiren Shoshu [High Priest] Master in the Seat of the Law" [Zen or Shingon Yui Yoga faith and practice]
Nam—-> "Transmission To One Sole Individual" [Zen or Shingon Yui Yoga faith and practice]
Nam—–> "Nichiren is the True Buddha"
Nam—–> "Nam Myoho renge kyo is the True Buddha"
Nam—–> "The Lotus Sutra and Gosho are too profound to understand without a priest [or mentor]"
Nam—–> "All Gohonzons and benefit derive from the DaiGohonzon"
Nam—–> "Statues of Shakyamuni Buddha on the altar is slander"
Nam—–> "Flowers on the altar is slander"
Nam—–> Not having a butsudan is slander"
Nam—–> "Nichiren said that but meant this"
Nam—–> "One must receive guidance from an SGI leader or Nichiren Shoshu priest in order to obtain Enlightenment"
Nam—–> "The Lotus Sutra has lost its power in the Latter Age"
Nam—–> "Shakyamuni is a cast off Buddha"
Even among those who chant Namu Myoho renge kyo there are those who distort and slander the teachings. However, it is endemic among those who chant Nam Myoho renge kyo.
The Land of actual reward
Nichiren teaches about Eagle Peak much more often and comprehensively after his exile to Sado Island. (1274 -1282) It is only natural that one’s thoughts turn to the afterlife as one approaches their end and Nichiren must have known that his exhaustive efforts and hardships would soon take their toll. It is a wonder that Nichiren lived as long as he did.
“Bodhisattva Never Disparaging was a practitioner at the initial stage of rejoicing; Nichiren is an ordinary practitioner at the stage of hearing the name and words of the truth 11*.”
Nichiren, like we ourselves, had just received the seed of Buddhahood after many kalpas from the Original Buddha (Honbutsu). For countless asamkhiya kalpas, we have neither heard the Law nor practiced the Buddha’s teachings and, for all intents and purposes, our Buddha seeds have dried up. This is not to say that our Buddha-field (Buddha-nature) is not fertile soil but we have not encountered the seeds of Myoho renge kyo, for a very long time. Being common mortals like Nichiren at the stage of Myoji Soku (first hearing the name and the words of the Truth or Myoho renge kyo) we, of course, have various worries, and doubts, especially about the afterlife. These doubts and uncertainties come to the fore when we have a near death experience, lose a loved one, or are coming to the end of our lives. I am sure that Nichiren too experienced these feelings and was acutely aware of the even more intense uncertainties experienced by his disciples and believers. For this reason, Nichiren made the afterlife an important part of his teachings after 1274.
Every “advanced” religion and most primitive religions address the question of an afterlife. Most of Nichiren’s followers had the mistaken idea of an Eternal Paradise ingrained due to the influence of the pervasive Pure Land teachings. This is akin to those of us in the western world who have the Christian idea of heaven established in their psyche. Even Chapter twenty-three of the Lotus Sutra takes into account the teaching of the Eternal Pure Land. The compassion and mercy of the Buddha and Nichiren was not to destroy the belief in this hopeful place but rather to utilize it so that one could believe ever more fervently in the Supreme Law.
“This is the place we live to enjoy happiness”. This is the place where we and our loved ones will be reborn to again experience the Joy of the Law. Whenever the Buddha in the pre-Lotus Sutra teachings, let alone the Lotus Sutra, talks about “assurance of no rebirth”, or Nichiren talks about going to Eagle Peak, they mean no rebirth in the Lower Six Realms.
Nichiren's prayers for the deceased petitions the Gohonzon for the deceased to be free of sufferings and that they wake up from the delusion of life and death and attain Enlightenment (the Great Bodhi).
Eagle Peak, in one sense, is the intermediate state, the Land of actual reward, a place of joy. quietude, and rest where, in death, we meet our teachers Shakyamuni Buddha and Nichiren Daishonin before returning to this Saha World to once again sow the seeds of Buddhahood in the wasteland of the peoples' lives. In another sense, the land of actual reward or Eagle Peak is the Gohonzon where, every day, we refresh ourselves and again meet with our teachers Shakyamuni Buddha and Nichiren Daishonin. Lastly, where ever we preach and propagate Namu Myoho renge kyo, at work, in school, "in a garden, a forest, beneath a tree, in monks’ quarters, in the lodgings of white-robed laymen, in palaces, in mountain valleys or in the wide wilderness,"** is the Buddha's Land. “There can be no discontinuity between the three existences of past, present, and future.”
*Please ignore footnote 11 [which is in error] of the SGI commentary and go to Nichiren's writng, The Four Stages of Faith and the Five Stages of Practice for a correct explanation of these stages.
**Lotus Sutra Chapter 21
The Lotus Sutra is perfect unlike Nichiren, you and I.
I figured from around 1995 that the internet was a way to reach the most people in this day and age and also to preserve the teachings for posterity. I think I will now continue on no matter what. I have not always in the past but now, this life of mine means not that much to me and the best thing to do with this worthless life is to spread the teachings as I believe Nichiren taught them, for the sake of the f--d up world. Too much suffering and tears, children, people, and animals dying caused by science, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, provisional Buddhism, communism, capitalism, Ikedaism, Nichirenism.... Only the Lotus Sutra is really beautiful in its practice and vision without one exhortation to kill. That is very important. Even Nichiren made several exortations to kill but not the Lotus Sutra. Nichiren knew that only the Lotus Sutra was perfect. That is why he was the perfect teacher because he pointed people to the Lotus Sutra above all else, even himself, and he was the True Votary flawed though he was. Shakyamuni Buddha too was flawed. He taught the provisional teachings for forty years. The Lotus Sutra is perfect unlike Nichiren, you and I.
Greg Romero corrects Tim Janakos
"I am the Buddha from time without beginning" -- Tim Janakos-Kobayashi ["Energetic Emotional Healer"], SGI Senior Leader and graduate of Soka University of America
"healer, my question to you was what makes you think you are a buddha from time without beginning. i did not ask you about the potential to become a buddha. there is reality and then there is fantasy. tientai and nichiren concur that the true entity is one, but like everything else in this universe it has two potentials. they say; if the true entity encounters bad or evil influences, instead of manifesting enlightenment, it will instead manifest a deeper delusion. however, if it encounters good influences it will manifest enlightenment. here we are talking about the real world, not a fantasy or a potential to be realized someday. sgi turns its back on this passage and actually many more. nichiren, self-described, leader of the bodhisattvas of the earth and follower of the eternal shakyamuni said the good influences are namu myoho renge kyo (the essence of the lotus sutra), shakyamuni, and his teachings as well as those having the same mind as nichiren. the evil influences are those that go against or teach something other than what they taught. "rely on the law and not the person". both sgi and nst go completely against this. what made nichiren's enlightenment was who he followed (shakyamuni) and that he lived at the risk of his very life, believed in, and taught the lotus sutra 24/7. he didn't teach somebody else's version of the lotus sutra. nichiren says many times in his writings, "the correct teachings". as you may know, buddhism is faith, practice and study. not just any faith, correct faith. not just any practice, correct practice. not just any study, the study of real buddhism and not someone else's version. nichiren also says, "there is correct wisdom and there is perverse wisdom". correct wisdom is reality and is good , perverse wisdom is fantasy and is not good. nichiren taught; there is only one distinction in any persons daimoku. that distinction is whether one chants with correct faith or chants while cherishing something different in ones heart. this shows that it is not just the words but the faith. this is the nst and sgi which includes you as you seem to be attracted to them. today, both nst and sgi have turned their backs on what the lotus sutra and nichiren actually taught in favor of something else. most likely for profit and selfish gain. healer, what you have put forth is a potential that all life has, however, it takes a correct faith, practice and study to make it a reality. like many sgi, i'm sure you will pay no attention to what i say. those who won't listen to nichiren also won't listen to me. this i know. my hope for you is that you will leave the sgi, begin a real buddhist practice and enjoy the promise of the lotus sutra and nichiren. cheers." -- Greg Romero
Vertical and horizontal transmission
Myoho-Nameless writes: "The market decides who our leaders are too, its not a perfect system but its the only one that can possibly work for us anymore. The authoritarian system has holes in it too. But we live in a secular and pluralistic society, the spiritual market will decide whether we want it to or not."
We will have to agree to disagree. The Laws, regulations, standards of conduct, etc. are, for the most part, composed and enforced from the top down, here and everywhere. "Enlightened" compassionate leaders create an harmonious and peaceful society while unenlightened brutal despots bring ruin to the people. In China, for example, those in power promote the leader without market forces coming into play, at least, until after the leader is chosen. Then, if the standard of living of the people declines and the people become too restless, the leader's rule may be of short duration. Here, you are right, the market decides. But if the market is corrupt, so will be the leader. It might take thousands of years to convert enough people to wisely choose an enlightened leader. An enlightened leader can move a billion people in a positive direction. We don't have thousands of years. Therefore, the SGI teaching that the people are sovereign is, at best, pie in the sky and, at worst, a cause to decelerate the establishment of a peaceful society. It might only take an hour, a day, a week, or a month, to convert one wheel turning king such as Trump, Putin, or Xi. It will take thousands of years to convert the entire populace.
"The Lotus Sutra has lost its power in Mappo"-- SGI teaching
"...He [Shakyamuni Buddha] explained that in the evil and confusion of the latter age, a time of great drought when the world is without shame or conscience, the rivers and streams that are comparable to the first four of the five flavors may dry up, but the Lotus Sutra, which is comparable to the great ocean, will not suffer the slightest diminution..."-- Nichiren
Nichiren demolishes SGI Original Enlightenment Doctrine..."Entered" not "welled up from"
"As for these three important things, it is not that Nichiren said it. It was the spirit of the Tathagata Shakyamuni that entered my body and filled it with a joy far greater than what it deserved. This is the important teaching of the Lotus Sutra called 'one thought is three thousand realms.' The scripture says, 'All existence has such a form ...' What does this mean? Because 'appearance', the first of the Ten Suchnesses, is the most important, the Buddha appeared in the world. The beginning of Nichiren's believing in the Lotus Sutra is like one drop of one atom in the country of Japan. If two people, three people, ten people, and millions and billions of people recite the Lotus Sutra, then it would become the Mt. Sumeru of Subtle Enlightenment or a great ocean of Nirvana. One should not look for any other way for becoming a Buddha." -- Senji Sho (An Essay on the Selection of the Proper Time)
Why we are superior to SGI Whistleblowers
We actually believe in freedom of speech. We let Doris have her say while she censors and exiles us.
Nichiren on the error of making one's mind teacher
"The people of our time-- whether clerics or lay believers, nobles or commoners -- all revere persons and do not value the Law. They make their own mind the teacher and do not rely on the sutras."
The irony of Daisaku Ikieda's teachings, one example...
"I want our young people to study doctrine." --Daisaku Ikeda
Then they will come to the same conclusions as we of the Eagle Peak blog. They will abandon the doctrines of the Soka Gakkai for those of Nichiren.
