The intrusion of commentarial exegesis into the original discourse...is precisely what has sullied Nichiren Lotus Sutra Buddhism by the likes of the Soka Gakkai, the Nichiren Shoshu, and the Nichiren Shu and for more than 700 years.
Nichiren Daiskonin is very clear and consistent in his authenticated works (realizing that the works in his handwriting developed over time). Only he can accurately interpret the Lotus Sutra (the Buddha's mind) for us because only a Buddha with a Buddha can understand the Lotus Sutra. Nissatsu, Nichiki, Nichikan, Toda, and Ikeda, for example, were not Buddhas and therefore, their commentaries on the Lotus Sutra can not be trusted.
