I have given much thought and many hours of chanting to realise the biggest slander the S.G .I commits and probably some of the other schools and communities of so called true Buddhism . Having no real dealings with others as I had avoided going into any other kind of group before since I left the S.G.I many years ago . But what have learnt after perplexing incidents is that the biggest slander that is committed is putting the organisation and the commity first. This has been done for thousand of years to confuse people. The christians had put the church first and those in hierarchical positions .Also the country was used to get people to go to war and kill each other encouraging them to violate the principles of the law that the Buddha taught it is no different. I would like to use an analogy of a garden which represents a place a community where various plants grow some are weeds some a flowers and some are oak trees. Now as the the parable of plants is used to explain how the rain of the law and teachings of the lotus sutra is bestowed on all the plants alike which will nourish them impartially and according to their different stages of growth will eventually sustain them each and in everyday. What is erroneous and will not lead to any harmony is if the garden is revered above all. This is a subtle way to get people to concentrate on the organisation of people . An organisation is not the law although all people are within it that can be in rhythm with it in various ways or not ,all according to their will .The way the leader behaved is that he put the organisation first .Remember in England there was a case of rape in the S.G.I that was reported and it was just discussed no attempt was to get that person to answer to any law let alone the law of the Buddha. It is just like the so called church and the structure of people who believe they are nearer to the truth then others .This could continue because it would feed their egos and inflate their sense of impotence .Just like an oak tree in a garden can not supply the other plants with substance and the rain it can only stand there as an example and encouragement. When we really understand what the Buddha said that we should look to ourselves and the law he meant just that .Not to look to someone else to explain that we must uphold the organisation and be controlled by them. This is probably another way to feed their egos as they will have some hierarchical position. I remember also an incident that showed this to me so clearly when I as doing First Aid in Trets. I was in charge and someone came to me to inform me she was having a miscarriage .I believed she should see a doctor but the so called Mens division in faith for that course did not think it was necessary .I had a big show down with him. I think if no one was present he may of hit me he was so angry that I should contradict him.I said it would be safer. Later he took her to the hospital himself and never told me .What a great big ego did not want to bow to a women.s judgment I suppose. What I could not understand was why put someone in charge of First Aid and health matters if they were just going to ignore them. We have already have the Lotus Sutra and the example of the Eternal Buddha .To me an organisation a group or any community is a place for us to come to be encouraged on our own individual mission to express the laws as best we can and to encourage people to do so. Not to up hold the organisation as the law .How can it be. It is only a collection of people who do have the potential to be in rhythm and have the seed within them. The Buddha also said that we need to revere everyone who is practicing and believing in the LotusSutra and trying to up hold it in their own way even if they are ill themselves because like a ferryman with a big enough boat to carry others to the shore. This I believe recognises everyone as having different karma and struggles which at the end of the day is some slander against the law which they need to change.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience. What bugs the crap out of me is their two faced holier than though BS, expecially when they are far more angry, perverse, mean, and nasty than we could ever be. SGI is a load of ufo no do do or whatever they call their stupid Ikeda fan dance.
Lady Nichimyo, thanks for the Trets experience. Mark Rogow, Thanks for creating this platform.
I’m convinced scriptural proof can be found in the Lotus Sutra, Nichiren’s Writings or T’ien-T’ai’s major Works of SGI being a cult because they all share the same thought on the ten factors.
Gongyo reads:
“The true entity of all phenomena can only be understood and shared between Buddhas. This reality consists of the appearance, nature, entity, power, influence, inherent cause, relation, latent effect, manifest effect, and their consistency from beginning to end.”
SGI literature treats this as a top down concept; Buddhahood that permeates all realms and all realms display the characteristics of Buddhahood. SG tends to forget that the same is true for the other 10 realms.
If we alter the sentence, just a bit this is what we get:
“The true entity of SGI can only be understood and shared between SGI members. This reality consists of the appearance, nature, entity, power, influence, inherent cause, relation, latent effect, manifest effect, and their consistency from beginning to end.”
If the ten factors rule is applied to the true nature of SGI as Religious Corporation, we can conclude that – SGI displays the appearance of a Cult, has the nature of a Cult, it’s a Cult entity, craves power like a Cult, exerts it’s influence like a Cult, sows the inherent cause of being a Cult, relates with the world as being a Cult, reaps the latent effect and the manifest effect of being a Cult, and its consistent with it from beginning to end.
Ikeda 1976 (extract from Shoshu tape):
"Be as ready to talk as to work. Be clever. Even the Japan Socialist Party does the same. So does the Communist Party. They make schemes for their purposes. Everyone in our society does. Why not us? We will make schemes for our belief, for our organization." ( Ikeda Daisaku on The guidance in Fuso Institute, June 1st 1976 )

It’s just the case of connecting the dots.
Great post. Thanks for sharing.
