A loosely structured organization of equals.

The Nichiren Buddhist organizations, save perhaps the Nipponzan Myohoji, are based on ego, power, and the World of Anger, not unlike most governments. Nichiren advocated a type of "theocracy" yet, he taught us to follow those with even slightly more wisdom than ourselves. Today, unfortunately, there are no Wheel Turning Kings and we too are steeped in the Three Poisons. Therefore, it is difficult to ascertain who possesses more wisdom than ourselves. However, the Lotus Sutra and Nichiren speak of good friends in the Dharma as being equals and as a necessary condition to attain Buddhahood. Since we can only be sure that Shakyamuni Buddha and Nichiren Daishonin have more wisdom than us, it is only safe in taking them as our teachers. It is best to look at all others who practice the Sublime Dharma of the Lotus Flower Sutra as good friends. This obviates both a restrictive faith and allows for a loosely structured organization of equals.
