Nichiren Shoshu member: If there is even a one in a billion chance that the DaiGohonzon is the sole Gohonzon inscribed for the sake of all mankind, if it is and you reject it, you will fall into hell.
But this "evangelical Christian" argument is the argument of the Lotus Sutra itself: If you reject the Lotus Sutra, your karmic "punishment" will be severe and you will fall into hell and suffer until you expiate your karma and until one has accepted the Lotus. Shoshu's fault here is equating their "daigohonzon" with the Lotus Sutra.

ReplyDeleteNow it looks like the SGI has come clean on this issue, only because it suits them, could this just be the beginning "on the road to redemption." They still have a along way to go. This Gakkai link claims that Nikken Abe said that the DaiGohonzon is fake.
