What about the 30,000 Nikken Gohonzons that SGI members were coerced to return and were subsequently burned? I also know of two people, one, a former SGI member and the other, an active SGI member who were given guidance to return or discard their non-SGI Gohonzon. Angela Pasaro has a copy of the so-called DaiGohonzon and "Doris Fromage" has two copies of antique Nichiren inscribed Gohonzons. Neither destroyed nor discarded their non-SGI sanctioned Gohonzon but it is prohibited for SGI members to go to their homes to chant.
2 sgi leader came to my house and took back their nichikan gohonzon and removed my wife's 55 year membership because we enshrined an authentic nichiren inscribed gohonzon
ReplyDeleteconsider it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,protection.
DeleteGood observation!
DeleteNichiren Shoshu and HBS too.
ReplyDeleteAny Nichiren sect that could excommunicate one of their members for having a genuine Nichiren inscribed Gohonzon is not a real Nichiren Buddhist but an impostor
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't get more simple than that
ReplyDeleteAgreed Noel - it really doesn't get any simpler!
ReplyDeleteSharing my new *sans Nichikan gohonzon * with a friend who is still practicing with SGI Boston, she texted me, asking if she could come and pick up my gohonzon to return it to SGI.
ReplyDeleteI said, "No thanks" am in process of carrying out the correct means of protecting others from the damaging effects of this counterfeit *object of worship*.
I knew that saying I would burn it would freak her out-- but then decided to be honest and share what is actually the appropriate disposal of this counterfeit scroll. It is both respectful and correct. I harbor no ill will making this decision.
Gossip is flying now in SGI Boston, for sure-- and my immediate demise is most likely what they are eagerly anticipating.
Maybe I should not have shared the truth--??
Or maybe my friend should not have interjected more of the attitude that I felt strongly needed to be corrected??
Agonizing ordeals... are to be expected when one seeks the Truth, and grapples with the more profound meaning of embracing the Lotus Sutra as Nichiren taught.
I know you don't need my approval because you have the approval of Shakyamuni Buddha and Nichiren Daishonin, I'm sure.
DeleteSorry-- left out that my new altar has an empty Butsadan- though the gold backing is very attractive when doors are opened, the removal of the counterfeit scroll was the beginning of a profound peacefulness within my own life, that I wanted to share with a dear friend,.
ReplyDeleteI also realized that my practice of chanting daimoku while reading the Gosho-- not focusing on the counterfeit gohonzon for nearly 28 years, may actually have been beneficial in terms of how I realized there were so many discrepancies between SGI/Ikeda and Gosho/Nichiren--
Yet-- my friend who has been a member of SGI Boston for 30 years seems only concerned with saving the SGI issued counterfeit scroll from destruction ???

Like they saved the destruction of the "High Sanctuary of True Buddhism" with trillions of Daimoku?
ReplyDeleteOh, how I wish some of their zealous enthusiasm could be re- directed toward efforts to confront social injustice and protect children, all vulnerable people in our society.
ReplyDelete~Katie
That is not on their real agenda.
