As I've been saying for years, the Soka Gakkai has its Code of Conduct for Leaders because Ikedaism has no ability to create Buddhas. Furthermore, there are so many guidelines for members that they might as well be practicing Theravadan Buddhism like the "peaceful" monks in Burma.
Perhaps like Soka Gakkai's "big brothers" [Catholics] they sweep pedophilia under the rug when practiced by one of their leaders [lay priests or "Ministers of Worship"]?
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for the Gosho that explains how the bodhisattvas of the earth lead others to take faith in the Lotus Sutra; from each of the 6 lower worlds. It is the correct faith and practice of the Lotus Sutra that demonstrates " faith in the Lotus Sutra, not the gravity of sins one has committed", is all important.
ReplyDeleteIF it is not correct faith that is upheld, and the practice is tainted by erroneous teachings, then-- it would become necessary to do background checks on candidates for leadership; implement a mandatory leaders code of conduct and above all-- secrecy!
Though it is true that there are egregious examples of despicable conduct by religious leaders in all religious *organizations*, this should NEVER be the case within a community of believers who profess faith in the Lotus Sutra-- because it would only occur IF faith was placed incorrectly in erroneous teachings.

ReplyDeleteHow true!
Williams behaviour is typical of what I have seen of the Sgi that don't walk the talk. Hypocrites that are incapable of practicing what they preach. They remind me of the Pharisees in the days of Jesus who pissed him off so badly
ReplyDeleteThis ongoing process is a good description of the type of good people we become through being in line with the Lotus Sutra under Shakyamuni and Nichirens good influence
ReplyDelete"These are some of the benefits of the Lotus Sutra that are experienced by its votaries and to which I have also experienced and can verify through my ongoing practice" Mark Rogow
Can the SGI also verify to having experienced these benefits in their lives?
“Good men, the first [great benefit] is that this sutra can cause bodhisattvas who have not yet conceived the desire for enlightenment to conceive such a desire.
It can cause those who are without compassion or benevolence to nurture compassionate minds.
It can cause those who delight in killing and slaughter to nurture minds of great pity.
It can cause those filled with envy and jealousy to nurture minds of joyful acceptance.
It can cause those who are begrudging and attached to things to nurture minds capable of relinquishing.
It can cause those who are close-fisted and greedy to nurture minds of almsgiving.
It can cause those of abundant arrogance and pride to nurture minds that uphold the precepts.
It can cause those much given to wrath and anger to nurture forbearing minds.
It can cause those who are indolent and lazy to nurture minds of diligence.
It can cause those who are scatterbrained and disordered to nurture minds devoted to meditation.
It can cause those with much ignorance and folly to nurture minds of wisdom.
It can cause those who are not yet capable of saving others to nurture minds set upon saving others.
It can cause those who practice the ten evil acts to nurture minds devoted to the ten good acts.
It can cause those who delight too much in the conditioned to strive for minds fixed on the unconditioned.
It can cause those whose minds are given to regression to cultivate minds of non-regression.
It can cause those given to outflows to nurture minds free of outflows.
It can cause those with many earthly desires to nurture minds that cleanse and extinguish such desires.
"Good men, this is called the first benefit and inconceivable power of this sutra”
