This is an excellent topic for discussions on the supremacy of the Lotus Sutra-- and the Buddha's last words :"Rely on the Law and not upon persons". The two articles linked above are reflections of provisional teachings, with regard to *judging the goodness or evil {lawful vs. unlawful- in Buddhist terms] of life and all of its functions*. The two articles linked separate *reality* from *wisdom*-- Those who believe in the Lotus Sutra, place their faith in *the fusion of these two aspects*--or "Myoho-Renge-Kyo" .
The doctrine of 3,000 realms in a single moment of life, the jewel only found in the Lotus Sutra, expounds that all life and all of its functions throughout the universe are "the True Entity"--, which has both enlightened and defiled aspects. Truly discerning the nature of life and fully understanding the workings , functions and meaning of *life* in this context is a function of one's faith-- not one's intellect alone.
The Dhali Lama and the SGI are two sides of the same coin on this and every issue of concern for us in this latter age. Both rely on *persons*-- who judge based on their understanding of what the Buddha taught; neither bases judgement on faith in the Lotus Sutra. They are not relying upon the Law.
Endorsing or prohibiting sexual conduct, in this context,--- the means for supporting their positions is the provisional teachings.
