RE: the SGI's "kanji". It resembles the fourfold rise and fall, in that they conceive of an "entity" prior to the Lotus Sutra and greater than Shakyamuni , NAMED myoho-renge-kyo. That is a wrong headed, heretical view! SGI, calling themselves "Buddhas" is based on their believing to achieve oneness with this "entity" and awakening to "everything being Buddha"- or hongaku shiso.
I am pointing out the significance of "sound" relating directly to Shakyamuni, the One, Original Eternal Buddha's teachings in the Lotus Sutra. ! I am reflecting on the significance of "hearing" the essential teaching, (Shakyamuni) Myoho-renge-kyo, and "always reciting the daimoku"(Nichiren).
I agree that correct faith is crucial. Deeper understanding is the result of correct faith. And the emergence of obstacles is inevitable !!
yep !
ReplyDeleteincorrect faith will only lead to a deeper delusion. and, if the object of devotion is not correct....there is no chance for correct faith.
DeleteI have challenged former "fellow" SGI members numerous times on their "core belief" that ", that they are all inherently, originally Buddhas"---.
ReplyDelete1) Nichiren certainly did not call himself a Buddha!
2) None of "them"possesses the outstanding features - the wisdom, divine powers of a Buddha-- what's up with that?
3) SGI members canNOT think or act independently from their leaders/mentor . Holy cow! That looks like "relying on persons"- does it not?
4) The assembly listening to the Buddha preach the Life Span chapter admitted "they" could not fathom the Buddha's explanations-- BUT agreed and vowed to "accept the Buddha's words with faith"-- hmmmm- no evidence that the Buddha was addressing an "assembly of other Buddhas"-Nope! not in the Lotus Sutra.
5) The clincher: How many of Nichiren's 5 Major Writings" have you studied ? and when do you plan to make Nichiren's original/authentic writings your guide for correct faith?
