Nichiren Daishonin advocated a return to pre-sectarian Buddhism. Forcefully urging a unification of Buddhism based on the Lotus Sutra, he was the greatest reformer in the history of Buddhism. Introducing a simple faith and practice, he created a formula that was easy to follow. Our goal too is to return to pre-sectarian Buddhism. This will never happen as long as Nichiren Buddhists don’t put their own house in order. There should be only one Nichiren Lotus Sutra school, not thirty or forty. I retain hope that this will be accomplished and I have a plan to realize this goal. The plan is simple. All the schools must cultivate the very same faith and practice as the founder, Nichiren Daishonin. If one does not have the same faith and practice as Nichiren, you are not a Nichiren Lotus Sutra Buddhist, even if you chant the Daimoku to a Nichiren Gohonzon.
According to the Lotus Sutra and Nichiren Daishonin, “faith is first and foremost." Only those having the very same faith as Nichiren Daishonin are Nichiren Lotus Sutra Buddhists. We have proven that all the various schools fail to have and uphold the same faith as Nichiren Daishonin. We, on the other hand, share the exact same faith as Nichiren. This is not mere self-praise. It is reality as it is.
