Mutable and immutable karma and the Lotus Sutra Buddhism of Nichiren

Point one: life is eternal...

Mutable karma are those things that can be changed in this very life through the chanting of Namu Myoho renge kyo: Examples of mutable karma are poverty, poor family relationships (or poor relationships in general), and various illnesses.

Immutable karma are those illnesses or events unable to be changed or cured in this lifetime. Examples are: A person born without arms will never be able to grow arms in this lifetime, despite chanting Namu Myoho renge kyo; and a Lotus Sutra Buddhist who experiences an untimely death is unable to reverse the inevitable inescabability of this event in this very life. However, the fact that life is eternal, having chanted Namu Myoho renge kyo, one without arms will never be reborn again without arms and one who experiences an untimely death who chants the Daimoku will never again, throughout infinite rebirths, experience an untimely death. On a mundane level, even one born without arms who chants Namu Myoho renge kyo will ultimately lead a productive life and will realize that what I say about never again having to experience a life without arms is true thanks to Myoho renge kyo, the Gohonzon, Shakyamuni Buddha, and Nichiren Daishonin.
