Someone did a survey of SGI members some years back. Here are the results

He surveyed 145 Ex-SGI member: 100 ex-SGI general members; 25 ex-SGI low level leaders; and 20 ex-SGI senior leaders:

Did you read the World Tribune (organization Newspaper)? 110 responded NO and 35 YES

Did you read the Human Revolution? 22 responded NO and 123 YES

Did you Recite "Gongyo" in Sino-Japanese? 145 responded YES and 0 NO

Did you ever recite Gongyo in English? 145 responded No and 0 Yes

Did you ever read a translation of Gongyo? 126 responded NO and 19 YES

Have you ever read the entire Sutra? 144 responded NO and 1 YES

I am not surprised. Now, of course, their Sutra Book has the English printed under the Sino-Japanese but I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of the current SGI members have not read the English under the Sino-Japanese. Certainly, a majority, even today, has never read the entire Lotus Sutra.
