Mandalamama says

Yeah, day one after I joined the SGI, the Ikeda-worship became apparent & it bothered me. In Japan, I bought my butsudan at a store, all the accessories, but declined one: a book & book-holder, to hold open one of Ikeda's many many daily books on the altar in front of me. That made no sense to me, I liked to read Nichiren & the Lotus Sutra in my hands. After that I just couldn't stand all the cultish aspects of SGI-Japan. Constant activities, forcing subscriptions of papers and magazines full of Ikeda's words & little else. Then ... exams!? Nah. Back in the States the SGI was just as smarmy & I left. I learned to beware anything that puts anything between me and Namu Myoho Renge Kyo. Kempon Hokke a is a quiet space with no additives.
