This is NOT Buddhism folks

  1. It’s where this Buddhism is at this time. I believe that all who embrace Myoho renge kyo and continue to the last moment of their lives will attain the benefits promised by Shakyamuni. To think otherwise is to dismiss the closing paragraph of the Kanjin Honzon Sho. For all of my 34 years I have seen and appreciated protection and fortune as have my friends still practicing in SGI and those I have introduced to this practice. Again I will point out that “ perceptions” are karmic and we all have to realize we will be purifying them this whole lifetime! I disagree with your freeze frame degradation of any community of believers . I have actual proof you are wrong.

  2. You are defending the indefensible, SGI following the person rather than the Law and the Buddha. Read the Human Revolution, "Shinichi Yamomoto", or "I", referring to Shinichi Yamamoto is mentioned hundreds of times and Nichiren and Shakyamuni Buddha but a few times, if it all. Go to any large meeting and Shakyamuni Buddha is never mentioned or mentioned once and Ikeda is mentioned dozens of times. You state that "I know SGI members and you know nothing of them", then, you are ignoring those who write the World Tribune which mentions Ikeda dozens of times and Nichiren but a few and Shakyamuni once or not all. Many members take to heart the World Tribune and other SGI writings yet fail to appreciate the 28 Chapter Lotus Sutra and the Five Major Works of Nichiren. When they do study the Lotus Sutra and Nichiren's writings, they choose a passage here and there with reams of commentary by Daisaku Ikeda who, more often than not, teaches that "Nichiren said that but meant this."

    1. I'm not reading the World Tribune, but the members I relate to are, and they aren't harping on Ikeda, so, yes, I will correct your blanket generalizations with actual facts. You broadly generalize while having nothing to do with SGI members in a real sense. I don't think anyone with a rational mind would simply take your word. What you are doing is promoting your own personal agenda. Leave it at that. It is not to be accepted as factual - just your own opinion.

    2. Nothing you could say can obviate these photographs. As to the mindset of SGI cult members, my 55 + year friend Doug Levine, an SGI senior leader and Facebook friend who I still talk with from time to time keeps me updated about the "great success of their zoom meetings and recent "post" covid meetings but he couldn't answer me how the World subscription numbers remain flat for several decades. In fact, this week, we talked. He is divorced and his son just got divorced. Despite his assertion about how great is his life, from my perspective, his "Family Revolution after 45+ years in SGI is in shambles. I encouraged him and his son that the second time is a charm. After relating my experience of family, he never responded. I trie to get in touch with my other SGI friends from ~ 50 years ago and my few remaining SGI converts from beteen 47 and 65 years ago and they don't respind. The literally hundreds of recent ex-SGI, keep us abreast of the goings on in SGI. I talk provately to many of them, encouraging them that they should forget almost everything they learned in SGI and try an follow the Lotus Sutra and Nichiren to the best of their ability.

    3. Nothing I can say ? How about Myoho Renge Kyo permeates all phenomena. How about we have a ways to go to eradicate negative karma and will be purifying our lives until our last daimoku ? Woe to the believer who focuses on flaws and faults of other believers. ~ I admonish this damaging practice of yours from a Buddhist and personal perspective on your behavior, hoping you will be able to transcend your small ego. ~ Katie

  3. you run with a different crowd. surely you don't believe your anecdotal experiences should be taken as universal truths? be great if you respectfully negotiated your personal relationships respecting all who don't or can't relate to you.
