Ultimately, war anywhere, according to the Sutras is caused by slander of the Law

"Disasters are caused by slander of the correct teaching. In the Benevolent Kings Sutra, they are listed as: (1) extraordinary changes in the sun and moon, (2) extraordinary changes in the stars and planets, (3) fires, (4) unseasonable floods, (5) storms, (6) drought, and (7) war, including enemy attacks from without and rebellion from within. The Medicine Master Sutra defines the seven disasters as: (1) pestilence, (2) foreign invasion, (3) internal strife, (4) extraordinary changes in the heavens, (5) solar and lunar eclipses, (6) unseasonable storms, and (7) unseasonable drought. The seven disasters are often referred to along with the three calamities in the phrase “three calamities and seven disasters.”

It would seem that Eastern Orthodox Christianity, Islam, Catholicism, Protestant Christianity, Hinduism, and Provisional Buddhism (Myanmar), SGI and NST in opposing the Lotus Sutra, is the cause of  the Wars throughout Jambudvipa.

  1. Got it. your solution ? Allow evil tyrants to lay claim and take over whatever sovereign nation they choose ? Allow a degenerate imbecile to become leader of the free world ? Outlaw , which would entail arrest and punishment , all other teachings and whatever you think violates the Lotus Sutra ?
All that is required for evil to flourish is good people remaining silent and docile. Patience isn’t your strong suit , apparently —- you want to force in your lifetime what will take thousands of years to accomplish , according to the Buddha.

  2. You take it up with me. Why don't you take it up with Ikeda who taught, "it is easier to conquer than it is to govern" in eschewing war. Even easier for Ukraine to have capitulated and be alive ("since one day of life is more valuable than ALL the TREASURES of the UNIVERSE". BTW Greg agrees with you but we have agreed to disagree.

    1. You should take it up with the Ukrainians themselves regarding what their lives stand for and mean to them .
Last time I talked to Greg , he agreed with me about your views and behavior. Who knows what he will believe tomorrow?

    2. Mark, you seem to be saying that it is best to just allow evil tyrants to lay claim and take over whatever sovereign nation the want? How can you dictate what it means to a Ukrainian to live under Putin, when most have said they would rather die fighting against him? Again, when you disregard the hearts and minds of good people, you are not upholding the Lotus Sutra--- or even realizing that death itself is not the end of life, but a phase of life. How one lives and dies is really what matters in terms of their "eternal lives".
Would you have tried to talk Nichiren out of risking his life to propagate the Lotus Sutra? If Buddhism truly permeates all secular affairs, then it stands to reason that what one is willing to die for matters... Currently Russian soldiers are willing to die in the quest of destroying Ukraine. That is the real tragedy here.

    3. If you are so sure, send your relatives their to fight. Nichiren's weapon was Juzu beads. You WILL see the follow of your support for war. Totally non-Buddhist.

  3. Your statement is typical of one who has nothing concrete to offer by way of solutions. You totally ignored the Buddha’s teachings on life and death and the fact that defending against war mongers is not being a war monger. Your take on secular matters and style of discourse are not particularly reflective of Buddhist behavior. This occurs when your own mind masters you ~ Katie
