Gimme Shelter

Ooh, a storm is threatening
My very life today
If I don't get some shelter
Ooh yeah I'm gonna fade away
War, children
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
Ooh, see the fire is sweepin'
Our streets today
Burns like a red coal carpet
Mad bull lost its way
War, children
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
Rape, murder, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
Rape, murder, yeah, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
Rape, murder, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
Mmm, a flood is threatening
My very life today
Gimme, gimme shelter
Or I'm gonna fade away
War, children
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
I tell you love, sister
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
Kiss away, kiss away

  1. not breaking news, bro. assumed you read the lotus sutra? no safety in the threefold world— 485 BC.
taking refuge in the lotus sutra is to chant the teaching that is the law, the Buddha and the Gohonzon . clearly you prefer fear mongering over faith. yours is a pathetic forum wreaking with the three poisons and lower worlds. another small group of readers taking their leave of your swamp.

  2. Dr. Rogow,

I recently listened to your episode of "The Cult Vault" from a couple years ago. I have been interested in various schools of Buddhism for many years now, and recently started exploring Nichiren. I wanted to ask, what is your personal favorite English translation of the Lotus Sutra? As a young college student, about 20 years ago, I ordered the most available translation, by Burton Watson. However, I recently found out his translation was commissioned by Daisaku Ikeda. He says as much in his introduction, which I'm sure I read at the time but, being an American college kid, it didn't stick out because I had no idea then who Daisaku Ikeda was. I would appreciate your advice in this area.

    Thank you very much.

    1. I like the Threefold Lotus Sutra best by Bunno Kato,

Very Good...Scripture of the Lotus Blossom of the Fine Dharma by Leon Hurvitz (hard to find).

    2. Easy to read difficult to believe and understand. Your rhetoric— fear mongering is a perfect example of your lack of both ! ~ Katie

    4. There is a stark difference between those who derive joy from the Law; who chant daimoku assiduously and meditate on the daimoku- and those who claim superior understanding and the authority to judge others based on their own "common mortal minds". Mark belongs to the latter category and has fomented more confusion and discord amongst believers than he has promoted any good. ~Katie

    5. Lets see... There were 10 million SGI members. NST excommunicated Ikeda for fomenting a coup, gave the members 5 or 6 years "to come to their senses" and then excommunicated those who remained with Ikeda. Approximately 800,000 returned to the temple and how many became confused and quit the practice all together thanks to the schism, and you accuse me of fomenting confusion. You are blind indeed.

    7. so many things are changing amongst believers. but you wouldn't know, would you? obstacles arise when progress is being made. all manner of discord has to bubble up and will be dispelled... we are early in the degenerative age... 9,000 plus years to go. only the foolish make their judgements from immediate, constantly changing phenomena.

  4. “ Conversation Between a Sage and an Unenlightened Man”- writings of Nichiren vol. 1-page 126.
“ When the world is at peace and calm prevails within the country, then civil measures should take precedence. But when barbarian tribes to the east, south, west and north , fired by wild ambitions , rise up like hornets, then military measures should come first.” -Nichiren
I read this ax Nichiren understanding the crucial importance of using military force to protect sovereign nations like Ukraine , from barbarian attacks fueled by wild ambitions -like Putins Russia!
