"Finally, with regard to Treatise on the Nirvana Sutra, it is recorded that this treatise was written by Bodhisattva Vasubandhu and translated into Chinese by Bodhiruchi. [Treatise on the Lotus Sutra was also written by Bodhisattva Vasubandhu and translated by Bodhiruchi.] There are many places in treatises such as these that contradict the sutra texts.Treatise on the Nirvana Sutra likewise speaks in a manner that contradicts the sutra it is based upon, the Nirvana Sutra. You should realize that these are due to errors of the translator and that such passages are not to be trusted."
The context here is crucial-- "teachings" to wake up an entire country who was misled about the primacy of the Lotus sutra and the Buddha, Shakyamuni. These teachings were specifically focused on "converting" an entire country duped into worshipping other Buddhas and following lesser sutras. This is not at play in non Buddhist countries, where people are introduced to the daimoku-- which is ONE with the Lotus sutra and Shakyamuni Buddha. As Nichiren teaches: It matters not whether they understand the "teachings"-- anyone who takes this wonderful medicine, Myoho Renge Kyo will attain great benefit.

Mark attacked Jerry Marcheso for stating that it is crucial to be able to correctly translate / read Nichiren’s extant writings in the language Nichiren used, Classical Chinese”.
ReplyDeleteMark took offense and publicly defames Jerry, who can translate/ read, original writings —— maybe because Jerry confronted Mark regarding Mark’s numerous errors ?
Now, Mark touts the importance of correct translation, forgetting to mention, he lacks the skill to determine which translations are correct 😂 ~ Katie

Prefix not even required -/ the act of reciting the essential phrase is “ devotion to the Lotus Sutra, reverence for Shakyamuni Buddha- “ as Nichiren declares in the Kanjin Honzon sho: the Buddha, the Lotus Sutra and the Gohonzon are @ one and the same “. You are contradicting Nichiren , the Buddha and the Lotus Sutra! Tho- at times you copy paste the teachings you misunderstand as a support for your personal animus and lowly status ! Just stop 🛑
