SGI's "Who Wants to be a Trillionaire" Game is the Teachings of Human Devils
Let me give you a glaring example of the danger of such a religion as the SGI:

Unfortunately, they deleted the Trillionaire game.
One of the questions on the SGI childrens multiple choice learning exam, Who Wants to be a Trillionaire is, "Who is a Buddha?" The "correct" answer is "Everybody". Teaching this to young children is a sure way to increase their chances of being sexually assaulted or murdered. The SGI misunderstands Buddhism. The SGI is a zennification of Nichiren Lotus Sutra Buddhism. It is the teaching of human devils.
Bodhisattva Never Despise never said, "You are all Buddhas." He said, "You are all to become Buddhas." Everybody is not a Buddha, least of all those in the SGI who so misunderstand Buddhism that they put our children in jeopardy.
I have received lots of flack from this post, even a stern rebuke from the Nichiren Shu priest Ryuei. Here is my rebuttal:
When children went to the SGI Elementary School Division Web site, they found the game, Who Wants To Be A Trillionaire:
Leaving aside for a moment that becoming a "trillionaire" [like the SGI mentor] is not a goal of Buddhism, the children eventually come upon the question, Who is a Buddha? The answer given is "everyone". I then criticized this false teaching as a danger to children. I knew I would get a lot of flack but my purpose was to stir up the SGI members, to get them to think and, to point out that from top to bottom, the SGI is mistaken about Buddhism and a danger to children.
One SGI member wrote a nasty letter but failed to include my discourse on Bodhisattva Never Despise. I wrote back:
Do you have young children? Do you tell them that everyone is a Buddha? "Honeybear, the pedophile Jimmy who lives down the street is a Buddha, the violent sexual deviant six houses down is a Buddha, and so too is your uncle Tony G who is a Crip." Better to teach the children about Goldilocks and the big Bad Wolf which, at least, is a practical teaching that might one day protect (awaken) the child about the bad people out there. He failed to include the rest of my discourse:
Even Bodhisattva Fukyo NEVER says, you are all Buddhas. He says, "You are all TO BECOME Buddhas."
The SGI teaching that everyone is a Buddha is as evil as the Zen teachings, "If you see a Buddha on the road kill him." Both teachings deprecate the lofty condition of Buddhahood. This is tantamount to destroying the Buddha seed by making people indiscriminate and stupid. This is exactly what the SGI wants. They don't want people to discriminate. "President Ikeda is a Buddha, he is infallible", "your Territory Chief is a Buddha, you shouldn't disagree with him or you lack faith" [if you don't see it his way] or "the Human Revolution is the Gosho of modern times."
Another called me names and stated, the SGI teaches that we are all potential Buddhas. I wrote:
The answer to the question, Who is a Buddha, was, "Everyone". This is on the Official SGI-USA website and this is what is being taught to the elementary school children [not, as you say, that everyone is a potential Buddha]. The child is left with a nondiscriminating mind based on the SGI fantasy that "we are all Buddhas". I suggest you no longer screen SGI members who supervise and teach children because you are all Buddhas.
We will teach the children the difference between a Buddha and a common mortal: "A Buddha is Enlightened and would never harm you, a common mortal is deluded so be very careful." I suggest the SGI takes down their children's learning quiz from their web site or alter it to reflect Nichiren Lotus Sutra Buddhism, the Latter Day, and common sense.
Then Rev. Ryuei of the Nichiren Shu wrote that because some other Buddhists teach that everyone is a Buddha it is ok and he too asserted that I was a deluded bigot.
I wrote back,
Nichiren states that most people pass so much time in the Lower Worlds that it is as natural to them as playing in a garden. If you taught my grandchildren that new age silliness that we are all Buddhas, I would withdraw from your temple. First and foremost, Buddhism is about seeing things the way they are. The fact is that, as an ER doctor, I see many children injured and abused by your "Buddhas". Protecting the children of the Buddha [in this case literally] is teaching them the reality of the world. The reality is, most people are potential Buddhas and few are Buddhas. Potential Buddhas are common worldlings and are capable of anything like the Islamists who strapped a mentally retarded man with explosives and sent him into the pet market and killed dozens of people.
Someone else wrote, "this is a crock of doo-doo. Nichiren wrote, Myoho renge kyo is the innate Buddha-nature of all beings, I would want my children to feel this way about others."
I replied,
Still, innate Buddha-nature is a far cry from Buddhahood. A roach and a stalk of stinkwood too have innate Buddha-nature. You don't have children and maybe you haven't seen what I've seen that would curdle your blood. The fact remains that not everyone is a Buddha, not even everyone who chants Namu Myoho renge kyo and in this Latter Age, you can count the number of Buddhas on your hand.
If you want to believe Madoff, Ikeda, Bush, little Casey's mom, and Osama Bin Laden are Buddhas, rather than potential Buddhas, then there is not much I or anyone can say to you to convince you otherwise.
Someone wrote that he was a buddha before he received the Gohonzon and after but only realized it after.
I replied,
Nichiren also said of one of his deceased disciples, he was a Buddha in life so surely he is a Buddha in death. Could you please point out, however, where he called Hei No Saemon a Buddha? How about the Soga family? Oto Jomyo? Devedatta while alive? What about the Great Arrogant Brahmin or Kobo Daishi?
One other person wrote a second time, an even nastier letter than the first time. I responded:
No matter how grand the intentions of the people who practice with the SGI, as long as their teachings are in error, you should not follow them. Your attacks of me are a reflection of your anger. I have presented a reasoned argument why the SGI children's teachings, Do You Want To Be A Trillionaire, is neither Nichiren Lotus Sutra Buddhism nor healthy for children. Why don't you step up to the plate and argue the matter instead of hiding behind personal attacks.
They too said Nichiren was arrogant
They said (and say) that Nichiren was arrogant. I speak with the Sutra and writings of Nichiren in hand, as taught by Nichiren:
Question: You are an extremely arrogant priest—even more arrogant than Mahādeva or Sunakshatra. Is this not so?
Answer: Insulting Nichiren is an offense even graver than those of Devadatta or Vimalamitra. My words may sound arrogant, but my sole purpose is to fulfill the Buddha’s predictions and reveal the truth of his words. In all Japan, who but Nichiren can be called the votary of the Lotus Sutra? By denouncing Nichiren, you would make lies of the Buddha’s prophecies. Are you not then an extremely evil man?
"The Annotations on the Nirvana Sutra states: “When monks or laymen are defending the Law, the most important thing is for them to adopt the proper basic mental attitude. They should disregard external details, stick to the principles, and in this way spread the teachings of the Nirvana Sutra. Therefore, it says that defenders of the correct teaching need not abide by petty regulations. And that is why it says they need not practice the rules of proper behavior. In past times the age was peaceful, and the Law spread throughout the country. At that time it was proper to observe the precepts and not to carry staves. But now the age is perilous, and the Law is overshadowed. Therefore, it is proper to carry staves and to disregard the precepts. If both past and present were perilous times, then it would be proper to carry staves in both periods. And if both past and present were peaceful times, then it would be proper to observe the precepts in both of them. You should let your choices be fitting and never adhere solely to one or the other.” I, unlike your mentor raise the lion's roar:

“The Buddha replied: ‘Kāshyapa, it is because I was a defender of the correct teaching that I have been able to attain this diamond-like body. Kāshyapa, because [in the past] I devoted myself to the correct teaching, I have been able to achieve this diamond-like body that abides forever and is never destroyed. Good man, defenders of the correct teaching need not observe the five precepts or practice the rules of proper behavior. Rather they should carry knives and swords, bows and arrows . . .
“‘The monks [whom you are speaking of] preach various teachings, but still they are not able to utter “the lion’s roar.” . . . Nor are they able to refute and convert evil persons who go against the correct teaching. Monks of this kind can bring no benefit either to themselves or to the populace. You should realize that they are in fact shirkers and idlers. Though they are careful in observing the precepts and maintain spotless conduct, you should realize that they cannot achieve anything. [Then a monk raises “the lion’s roar.” . . .] Those who break the precepts, upon listening to his preaching, are all enraged to the point where they attack him. This preacher of the Law, though he may in the end lose his life, is still worthy of being called a person who observes the precepts and brings benefits to both himself and others.’”

"Likewise the people of Japan, by becoming enemies of the Lotus Sutra, have brought ruin on themselves and their country. And because I proclaim this, I am called arrogant by those of little understanding. But I do not speak out of arrogance. It is simply that if I did not speak out I would not be the votary of the Lotus Sutra. Moreover, when my words prove later to be true, people will be able to believe all the more readily. And because I write this down now, the people of the future will recognize my wisdom.
Faith not knowledge is what is important and renouncing the desire for fame and fortune.
“Knowledge without faith” describes those who are knowledgeable about the Buddhist doctrines but have no faith. These people will never attain Buddhahood. Those of “faith without knowledge” may lack knowledge but have faith and can attain Buddhahood. This is not merely my own opinion; it is stated clearly in the Lotus Sutra. In the second volume, the Buddha says, “Even you, Shāriputra, in the case of this sutra were able to gain entrance through faith alone, not because of any wisdom of your own.” This shows that even Shāriputra, unsurpassed in his wisdom, was able to attain Buddhahood only by embracing and firmly believing in this sutra, and that his wisdom alone did not enable him to become a Buddha. If Shāriputra could not attain Buddhahood through his wisdom, how can we ordinary people, with limited knowledge of the doctrines, dare to dream that we may attain Buddhahood when we do not have faith? The Buddha explains that people in the latter age will be arrogant, though their knowledge of the doctrines is trifling, and will show disrespect to the priests, neglect the Law, and thereby fall into the evil paths. If one truly understands the Buddhist teachings, one should show this in one’s respect for the priests, reverence for the Law, and offerings to the Buddha. Shakyamuni Buddha is not among us now, so you must respect the teacher with enlightened wisdom as you would the Buddha himself. How, then, could you not receive blessings? If one wishes for happiness in one’s next existence, one should renounce one’s desire for fame and fortune and respect the priest who teaches the Lotus Sutra as one would a living Thus Come One, no matter how humble that priest’s station. Thus it is written in the sutra."

Remember this Ikeda sect members, the next time you tell someone to chant for a big screen TV, A car, a house, or a "female marijuana seed".
Nichiren's vow and our vow
From the Opening of the Eyes:
In the final analysis, no matter how I am abandoned by gods and how much difficulty I encounter, I will uphold the Lotus Sutra at the cost of my own life. Sariputra could not attain Buddhahood after having practiced the way of Bodhisattva for as long as sixty kalpa because he could not endure the difficulty presented by a Brahman who asked him for his eyes. Those who had received the seed of Buddhahood from the Eternal Buddha and Daitsuchisho Buddha an incalculable number of kalpas ago could not obtain Buddhahood for as long as 500 or 3,000 dust-particle kala (gohyaku-jintengo or sanzen-jintengo) until they had listened to the preaching of the Lotus Sutra on Mt. Sacred Eagle in this world. It was because they had been misled by these 'evil friends' to abandon the Lotus Sutra. No matter what happens, abandoning the Lotus Sutra would cause us to be plunged into hell. - Nichiren Shu Kyotsu Hori translation
and
"I have made a vow. Even if someone says that he would make me the ruler of Japan on the condition to give up the Lotus Sutra and rely upon the Kanmuryo-ju-kyo for my salvation in the next life, or even if someone threatens me saying that he will execute my parents if I do not say 'Namu Amida Butsu,' and no matter how many great difficulties fall upon me, I will not submit to them until a man of wisdom defeats me by reason. These difficulties are like dust in the wind. I will never break my vow to become the eyes of Japan, and become a great vessel for Japan." Ibid
and especially, in English and Japanese:
"I Nichiren and my disciples will eventually attain Buddhahood as long as we maintain resolute faith despite our difficulties. Day and night I told my disciples never to hold doubts even should they lack heavenly protection or a peaceful life. Still they fail to listen and harbor doubts in their heart. In the face of stark reality, the foolish will forget the promises they have made."
WARE NARABI-NI WAGA DESHI SHONAN ARITOMO UTAGAU KOKORO NAKUBA JINNEN-NI BUKKAI-NI ITARUBESHI. TEN-NO KAGO NAKI KOTO-WO UTAGAWA-ZARE. GENSE-NO AN-NON NARAZARU KOTO-WO NAGEKA-ZARE. WAGA DESHI-NI CHOSEKI OSHIE SHIKADOMO UTAGAI-WO OKOSHITE MINA SUTEKEN. TSUTANAKI MONONO NARAI-WA YAKUSOKU-SESHI KOTO-WO MAKOTO-NO TOKI-WA WASURURU NARUBESHI.
Nichiren teaches that nowhere do we find a single scriptural passage that expresses disapproval or disparagement of the Lotus Sutra. The Soka Gakkai teaches that the Lotus Sutra is no longer valid.
"Nowhere in all the five thousand or seven thousand volumes of sutras listed in the Kai-yuan era catalogue do we find a single scriptural passage that expresses disapproval of the Lotus Sutra and advises one to discard it or to cast it aside, nor any passage that says it is to be classified among the incorrect passages or abandoned. [If you disagree] you had better find some reliable passage from the sutras [that will support your view], so that you may rescue Shantao and Honen from their torments in the hell of incessant sufferings"

Lets change our culture to the Japanese culture, why don't we? SGI violates the principle of adapting to the local customs when Buddhism spreads to a foreign country. ...Japanese speech, Japanese mannerisms, Japanese songs, Japanese top leaders, the list goes on and on. This is one of the many dozens of reasons Soka Gakkai is stuck on 35,000 active members in the United States rather than their stated membership of 340,000 which is laughable. Generously, there are 1500 districts that average, at most 25 active members.

I am interested in the cult qualities of the pseudo Buddhist Ikeda sect
1). Destructive cults actively recruit new members, often through deceptive “front” organizations.
The SGI has the Boston Research Center, the Institute for Oriental Philosophy, Human Rights Education Research association, 7/11 [hehe] and others where their affiliation to SGI is rarely if ever mentioned.
2) .Destructive cults claim to offer absolute Truth. Their teachings are not (to them) mere theory or speculation. The most effective cult doctrines are those which are unverifiable and unevaluable.
The SGI claims that their believers are the only Nichiren Lotus Sutra believers capable of obtaining Buddhahood, going so far to claim that all SGI members are Buddhas while those of the Nichiren Shu and Kempon Hokke, for example, are “deluded Shakyamuni worshippers”.
3). Destructive cults reduce everything to a bi-polar attitude: “for us, or against us.”
Anyone who criticizes the SGI, no matter how wise, is a fool and anyone who praises the SGI, no matter how foolish, is wise. Daisaku Ikeda writes, for example:
“Seven years have passed since then. The outcome of the struggle of good and evil and the workings of the law of cause and effect have been strict and uncompromising. The decline of the crazed and destructive Nichiren Shoshu is clearly apparent. The victims, unfortunately, are the lay believers who practice with the temple, who are not aware of Nichiren Shoshu’s evil and have been deceived by the priests.”
4). Destructive cults generate some kind of external “pet devil” with which to threaten their members if they should doubt, or fail, or ever leave the group.
The SGI has dozens of “pet devils”. Those who leave will have misfortune on their jobs, in their families, in their social lives, have accidents, fall into hell, etc. President Toda stated: “If you keep this up, you’re going to come to a pitiful end in life.” and “Betraying the Soka Gakkai is betraying the Daishonin. In the end, they’ll receive the punishment of the Buddha, you’ll see.” Ikeda says, “To take action to fight against whatever forces appear as the enemies of the Soka Gakkai is our most noble mission.” Matilda Buck says, “How tragic it would be for even one person to have found the great means of bringing forth Buddhahood only to be diverted to another, seemingly similar, path that is incapable of leading that individual to his or her deepest happiness.” This is the jist of the Gakkai’s attempt to chain the members to the Gakkai way of life. The Biggest ”pet devil” is Nikken of the Nichiren Shoshu:
"When Buddhism speaks of “devilish functions,” what does that really mean? These represent whatever tries to prevent us from advancing in our Buddhist practice. In a sense, they are frightened when we expand the Buddha’s forces, because the realm they want to control will then be changed into a pure land. In our case right now, this function is being manifested in the current high priest of Nichiren Shoshu."
5). Destructive cults lead their members to believe they are somehow superior to all other humans on the earth.
In many of Daisaku Ikeda’s speeches we see how the SGI members are to view themselves:
“Sons of the Gakkai”,
“Inheritors of Myoho”,
“Lions of the Mystic Law”,
“The sole group of true believers”,
“Truly praiseworthy are you who resolve to work hard for kosen-rufu and the SGI. You are the most noble of all people.”
6). Destructive cults put the will of the group above the will of the individual. This is often reinforced with simplistic games or rituals of some type designed to make the individual subservient to the group.
If you search, you will find such quotes from the eternal Soka Gakkai mentor, “The Soka Gakkai is more important than my life.” We also see the special Soka Gakkai holidays like May 3rd, day of mentor and disciple, and such slogans as, “reaffirming the prime point of the Soka Gakkai”
We see inordinate references to Soka Gakkai, SGI, and Ikeda in nearly every experience given by an SGI member. There used to be dress and hair (short) and beard (none) codes for the SGI Young Men’s Division and on saturdays everyone had to dress in white pants and white tee-shirts.).
7). Destructive cults teach that the end justifies the means.
How they misuse upaya (expedient means) is a travesty. Flirtatious shakabuku by young women’s division, telling people that they can get new cars and even drugs if the chant, teaching people that they will immediately become Buddhas if they join the SGI, and the list goes on and on how they utilize the ends justify the means philosophy of Machiavelli, the antithesis of the Buddha’s teachings.
8). Destructive cults teach strict obedience to superiors and encourage the development of behavior patterns that are similar to those of the leader.
Is there any doubt why the Soka Gakkai is known throughout the ten directions as the Ikeda cult? Guidance division, never criticizing leaders, “follow no matter what”, this is so apparent to everyone but the brainwashed SGI member himself. Lately, the SGI has abandoned any subtle pretense with such overt youth division guidelines as, “Reveal your true identity as Shinichi Yamamoto” and “I want to be Shinichi Yamamoto”
9). Destructive cults offer acceptance by the group for good performance, and conversely,withhold it for poor performance.
Moving up the ladder from Jr Group Chief, to Group Chief, to District Chief, to Chapter Chief, to Area Chief, to Territory Chief, to Joint Territory Chief and so on.Busting people from their position or moving them at the leaders will.
10). In destructive cults, fear is a major motivator. Guilt is a close second, and shame is third. Only the cult leader is perfect, so everyone below is fearful that those above wil lfind out their shortcomings. Cult members feel constantly guilty for having those real or imagined shortcomings, and are ashamed that they haven’t worked harder to get rid of them.
“Never talk about your problems to the members until they are resolved.”
“Did you know that so and so got hit by a car and is paralyzed. He should have stayed with the Soka Gakkai.”
“She turned in her SGI Gohonzon and lost her job and her house.”
“He committed suicide not soon after joining the Nikken sect.”
11). Destructive cult members swing from emotional highs, to emotional lows regularly. Lows are not long tolerated, and result in more indoctrination, or even ejection from the group if they last too long.
Here are some examples of SGI speech used to control their members: “You have weak faith.”. ‘You had better go for guidance if you want to resolve that problem”. Rumors to stay away from depressed individuals. Not inviting less than enthusiastic members to certain meetings or not telling them about “important” meetings. Lectures about “emotionalism”, [unless the emotion is rapture about the SGI and the mentor]. Every last former SGI cult member will attest to this.
12). Destructive cults tend to re-write their members’ past, manipulate their present, and distort their future. Disrupting time orientation is an honored technique of all such cults.
Human Revolution, New Human Revolution, New New Human Revolution. Need I say more?
13).And, finally, there is never a legitimate reason for leaving a destructive cult. The only reason members leave a perfect system, is because they are imperfect in some respect and will be punished for it.
“He was angry.”
“He was jealous.”
"He couldn’t get along with his leader.”
“He had weak faith.”
(even if "he" continues to chant three hours a day and does shakabuku as an independent, with the Nichiren Shu or the Kempon Hokke). “No matter which destructive cult you choose, the above 13 items will almost universally apply".
The author of these 13 points [whose name escapes me] then goes on to conclude: Study the methods of est, LaRouche, Transcendental Meditation, Truth Station, Soka Gakkai, The Way International, Children of God, Temple of Set, Synanon, Scientology ®, The Peoples Temple, Unification Church, Hare Krishnas, House of Judah, Ramtha, Garbage Eaters, Rajneesh, ECK, ChurchUniversal and Triumphant, Elan Vital, Posse Comitatus, or any of the others…. they use the same techniques, even though each of them claims unique and absolute ownership of the “truth.”
I would like to add that, despite the Soka Gakkai Charter which reads:
SGI shall respect and protect the freedom of religion and religious expression.
SGI shall, based on the Buddhist spirit of tolerance, respect other religions, engage in dialogue and work together with them toward the resolution of fundamental issues concerning humanity.
However, behind closed doors, the Soka Gakkai is absolutely intolerant of all other faiths and, in public, it excoriates all the other Nichiren sects, particularly, the Nichiren Shoshu, the Nichiren Shu, and the Kempon Hokke.
Though I also am highly critical of all other faiths and all other Nichiren sects, my Charter is the Lotus Sutra and authentic writings of Nichiren. Never would I publicly proclaim: "I will respect religious expression" and "work together with other religions"

Actually, I am most interested in your doctrinal deviations because all religions share many of these characteristics. I propose that you are the Ikeda sect or Ikedaism and not the Lotus Sutra Buddhism of Nichiren. If you care to see your doctrinal deviations. I would be happy to supply them. Nichiren teaches:
“...If there are those who possess differing ideas concerning the three treasures, then truly you should know that these people can no longer hope to take refuge in, or rely upon, the three pure treasures. They will never gain benefit from any of the precepts, and in the end, they will fail to obtain the fruits of the voicehearer, the cause-awakened one, or the bodhisattva.” This passage is clearly referring to [the essential point of ] the “Life Span” chapter of the Lotus Sutra..." (The Third Doctrine)

A good example would be the priesthood. Well, that's a given, of course. Thats all they talk about when they have soka spirit anyways. In addition to saying basically, "Fuck the Priesthood!" (pretty much) their like "What does this person look like? Whose is this priesthood/temple member? Let's try to locate where this person in the city/state so we can invite them to a district meeting or w/e and like lets get more information on them because that's what normal people do at least here in sgi"
Like, isn't that creepy as hell? Like, an entire organization wants to know the whereabouts of someone who may or may not be thinking about SGI at all? These are people too, afterall, who have their own lives, families, hobbies, and interests etc.. It's like, why are you so concerned about a member in the nichiren shoshu sect? Its like they have nothing better to do. I bet if the people doing soka spirit focused just on sgi they would actually be doing something good with they're time. But no they gotta stalk people like a crazy ex girlfriend. Not lying here I told some one about what they do in soka spirit and they said it's like a crazy ex girlfriend.
They apparently watch this subreddit too I think they call it 'monitoring" or some shit like that. Seriously tho you monitor a temperature not a subreddit tho. Like legit not kidding around here someone in sgi is literally, and I mean, literally getting paid to watch this sub for SGI and like quora and other sites where SGI gets shit on. Like damn I thought ya boi Nichiren said the wise will rejoice while the foolish will retreat, not, "The wise will stalk and the foolish will continue to stalk the living hell out of the people who talk bad about SGI" Like seriously get over yourselves.
You guys know what google alerts are because sgi usa loves using those and every time Nichiren Shoshu, priesthood, pure land buddhism (ok, not sure about this one but not surprised if they do) or someone theyre obsessed with shows up in google search as a new entry they get a notification and they report the shit right away to their national soka group leaders. Like who does that seriously like you make google alert for movie times and calendar events but I gotta give them this one cuz no one knows if a google alert is placed on themselves or not. I know this because legit someone shared this with me and that's when I shit myself across my bedroom floor. I was swimmin in my own poop for two days straight when I heard this I'm surprised I'm still alive cuz withe the amount of poop I was swimming in I dont think a normal person would survive.

My response to an Al Jazeera interview with Emmanuel Macron and Civil Liberties activist Yasser Louati
Mr. Loati, there are 109 passages of violence in the Q'uran. When the Muslims repudiate these passages there will be respect for Islam. In all fairness, the Bible, especially the Old Testament, is equally violent ("An eye for and eye, a tooth for a tooth."). Those who embrace and uphold the Bible also perpetrate violence towards civilians.
"Absolute" pacifism is the answer, ONLY engaging in violence if one's life or family is endangered. The Lotus Sutra (Myoho renge kyo in Sino-Japanese) , "The Eastern Bible", does not encourage violence against another, not in one single place. As we are now looking to Southeast Asia and the Far East for how to control the coronavirus, we should look to the Far East for a peaceful religion based on the Lotus Sutra. Namu Myoho renge kyo.
