First some background:
Ryuei advocates the Chinese Hua-T'ou [Zen] method as useful to some to get enlightened:
Nichiren's teaching on Zen:
"Zen is the teaching of devils."
If you don't understand what I am getting at, it would be helpful to read Conversation Between a Sage and Unenlightened Man [which Ryuei and the Nichiren Shu mistakenly labels "a forgery"] and his Five Major Works, particularly The Opening of the Eyes. The Selection of the Time, Repaying Debts of Gratitude, and the True Object of Worship.
Please remember, it is difficult to practice as the Lotus Sutra and Nichiren instruct.
