Nichiki wrote that "the shakubuku method was readily misused by those deficient in scholarship and patience, and that those attached to its form often lacked the compassion that represents its true intent. Moreover, their arrogant attacks on other sects could drive previously innocent people to commit the sin of slandering the Lotus Sutra"
Nichiki did not understand the Lotus Sutra Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin. He did not understand that the shakabuku method IS the practice for Mappo. He did not understand that none of us who perform the shakubuku method are perfect, precisely because we were born in Mappo. We do shakabuku to become perfect and to develop compassion. He also failed to understand the Lotus Sutra and teachings of Nichiren on the so-called Poison Drum Relationship:
"Hearing the Dharma, bringing forth irreverence and contempt and falling into hell are superior to making offerings to Buddhas numbered as the sands of the Ganges."
"Hearing the Dharma, bringing forth irreverence and contempt and falling into hell are superior to making offerings to Buddhas numbered as the sands of the Ganges."
