My personal criterion for bestowing Gohonzon on established believers

I will never bestow a Gohonzon on anyone if they return or willfully dispose of their first Nichiren Gohonzon. People who lose a Gohonzon in a fire or other natural disaster will be able to receive a replacement immediately. Those whose Gohonzon is naturally worn should return it for repair or should repair it themselves. Those whose Gohonzon is damaged because of negligence must wait at least one year before being considered for a replacement.
