"Although they hear the Teaching, they still do not realize the principle of the Truth; these ignorant people after all cannot see the real true characteristics of eternity, bliss, self, and purity. Even though they have not experienced enlightenment, they judge each other based on their own ideas. Thus over time there have been many schools of interpretation of the Truth, each one with differerent views, all citing scriptures and treatises, none knowing who is right. Because of this fact, they cling to their own interpretation and deny others: 'Although they drink the elixir of immortality, it kills them off.'"
