Nichiren was a monk who neither embraced nor abandoned precepts. Far more important to Nichiren than superficial appearances, clothes, honors, prosperity or privation, was raising the lion's roar, repudiating slander and rebuking the enemies of the Lotus Sutra. Peace was not Nichiren Daishonin's overriding concern. Spreading Namu Myoho renge kyo while suppressing evil religions and philosophies was his life's work. When the entire Japanese nation and the entire world chants and believes only Namu Myoho renge kyo, peace will become a reality.
