"I will teach you how to become a Buddha easily. Teaching another something is the same as oiling the wheels of a cart so that they turn even though it is heavy, or as floating a boat on water so that it moves ahead easily. The way to become a Buddha easily is nothing special. It is the same as giving water to a thirsty person in a time of drought, or as providing fire for a person freezing in the cold. Or again, it is the same as giving another something that is one of a kind, or as offering something as alms to another even at the risk of one’s life."
Nichiren teaches in this writing that teaching another Namu Myoho renge kyo is how to become a Buddha easily. Nichiren has taught Namu Myoho renge kyo to more than 35 million people in this world and the Eternal Buddha has taught Namu Myoho renge kyo to trillions of quintillians throughout the universe since time without beginning. That is why these Buddhas' teaching us to teach others Namu Myoho renge kyo should be believed as the way to easily become a Buddha.
ReplyDeleteI also believe that part of teaching another Namu Myoho renge kyo is teaching him or her the way to continue to chant throughout their lives as outlined in the Lotus Sutra and writings of Nichiren.

ReplyDeleteDo you reject thye bogus non-existant writings that teach us to chant Namu myoho renge kyo in order to attain buddhahood. I didn't think so. If what the writings say is true, if they agree with the Five Major writings and entire authentic canon of Nichiren (unlike your yours), they should be accepted.
ReplyDeleteIt wasnt the writings that caused me to arouse joy from chanting Myoho Renge Kyo . It was my own action, first taught, then encouraged by a co-worker, who loaned me Gosho volumes published by Shoshu and translation of “gongyo by SGI. 33 years later, it’s still my own actions, independent of any mediator that brings me great joy! So simple … no preaching needed —- from the minds of others who more or less weaponize whatever they have accepted as authentic to make themselves look superior. The Law is supreme. Your dictums are bogus.
ReplyDeleteMark, your premise is incorrect. Embracing and believing an authentic extant writing on Nichiren’s doctrines is the most beneficial study for anyone other than a genuine Buddhist scholar. You are merely clinging to false pride if you think you know what other writings constitute relevant teachings.
