Regarding the false assertion that the Nichiren sects never debate among each other (debate among those who chant Nam(u) Myoho renge kyo

1. 1958: The debate between SGI and Nichiren Shu led by Daisaku Ikeda

2. 1917: The debate between the Nichiren Shoshu and the Kempon Hokke

3. The 16th Century debates between the Nichiren Shoshu and the Nichiren Shu which born the forged writings of the Ongi Kuden and the Ongi Kikigaki

  1. There is no guidance or instruction by Nichiren for debates amongst believers. Since you tout your strong desire to follow Nichiren, I would expect you to be calling out this insane practice rather than engaging in it and trying to support it ~ Katie

  2. Nope ! The challenge to YOU was
To produce Nichiren’s own writings that instruct or encourage DEBATE AMONGST BELIEVERS!
By extension - the debates between Nichiren sects are baseless and not taught by Nichiren . Why ? Because all Nichiren sects embrace the daimoku and Gohonzon. Additionally, Nichiren was very strict re: who and if his disciples engage in debates with other sects of Buddhism in his time .
BTW, I already know you can never support “debating other believers” in any venue / with Nichiren’s own words or accurate ( I.e., J. Stone ) historical accounts .

  3. Nichiren's Lotus Sutra Teachings were in their infancy yet even then Nichiren wrote that there were those who recite the Lotus Sutra (Myoho renge kyo) who destroy its intent. He also stated that the Japanese people were the most evil people in Jambudvipa. During Nichiren's time there were not 36 Nichiren sects. Today, despite chanting the Daimoku, many, if not all, destroy the intent of the Lotus Sutra. The most egregious sects are the Soka Gakkai, the Nichiren Shoshu, and the Nichiren Shu. I have written extensively on this. I have already stated, as Nichiren, only public debates with strict rules and secular judges are of any value.

  4. Also. Nichiren's goal was to again establish a pre-sectarian Buddhism like during the life of Shakyamuni Buddha. Today, there are 36 sects with the majority of adherents who won't even speak to each other while slandering each other. This is hardly pre-sectarian Buddhism. Then there is the matter of the provisional Buddhists sects with very few debating with them the Lotus Sutra Buddhism of Nichiren.
