Nichiren Shoshu's agenda laden translations, an example

"Giving myself the name Nichiren signifies that I have attained enlightenment by myself" (Major Writings, Vol 1, Letter to Jakunichi-bo p 236)

A more correct translation is as follows:

"I call myself Nichiren because I alone understand the One Buddha Vehicle" (Kempon Hokke translation.)

The latest SGI translation is an improvement over the first Nichiren Shoshu/SGI agenda laden Major Writings:

"My giving myself the name Nichiren (Sun Lotus) derives from my own enlightenment regarding the Buddha vehicle." [Writings of Nichiren Daishonin]
