The overbearing arrogance of Zen and SGI

"But the Zen school, revering the Buddha, which is the essential nature of phenomena, supposes that the self and [Shakyamuni] Buddha are equal, which is to fall into the error of overbearing arrogance. Surely a person who does so will be condemned to the Avīchi hell. Hence the Lotus Sutra says, “The monks who are overbearingly arrogant will fall into a great pit.”

  2. Traditional sincere Buddhists from all over the world are constantly challenging the arrogant leadership in their organisations who have hijacked the teachings of Nichiren Buddhism to such a degree that they deny the Law of cause and effect (karma) and Rebirth, the eternal cycle of birth and death which are some of the core tenants of the faith. They mainly focus on the universal (Amala consciousness) aspect of being, instead of seeing that we are both universal and individual (a river of karmic energy that eternally flows throughout the 3 existences, past, present and future) simultaneously, The worst behaviour of all is to deny or turn our back on the Law/slander the law according to Nichiren, everything else is quite petty. It has become more like Zen, replacing Zazen,(a seated silent breath watching meditation) for chanting Namu Myoho Renge Kyo, it may as well be the same thing because as Zen have done away with the teachings so have they, it is old case of history repeating itself. Such is the sorry sick state of affairs within the SGI. The reason why some people become independent practioners or join another Nichiren sect, is because they do not wish to compromise their beliefs for some watered down version just so they can be part of the status quo.
