There are several reasons. They would have to acknowledge us. It keeps their name on people's lips. It affirms in the minds of the faithful the Lotus Sutra's promise of encountering the Three Evil Enemies. They refute us in their writings and audio intended for internal consumption. There, they have free rain to speak as they wish and without having to give us our due [by failing to publically acknowledge us]. In their heart of hearts, the senior leaders, let alone the members, realize that they can not win a debate with us. Lastly, there may be top SGI senior leaders who secretly support us and our movement.
I believe you are right about top SGI senior leaders not being happy with what is happening in the vipers den. With the Tsunami of suffering that is sweeping through because of the consequences of slandering the Law, the Gakkai perpetrators and followers who know about the problem and don't speak out, will have to face up to what has been happening. It is only a matter of time before it will all come out in the wash for all to see.
