The unfathomable field of the Buddha's cognition is revealed in Shakyamuni's behavior as a human being. We must not discard the Body of' the Manifest Buddha Shakyamuni. To discard the historical Buddha is to discard the Lotus Sutra which teaches the unity of the Three Buddha Bodies. It is to reduce the Lotus Sutra to the teaching of one Buddha body. It is to debase the Lotus Sutra by lowering it to the level of the Amida Buddha [Reward Body] or Dainichi Buddha [Dharma Body] Sutras and the Pure Land and Shingon teachings. This is what the Nichiren Shoshu and Soka Gakkai do to the Lotus Sutra. They debase it by denying the Three Bodied Tathagata, Lord Shakyamuni Buddha.
In the catholic faith I use to make the sign of the cross while I was blessing myself saying "in the name of the father(dharma) ,son (manifest)and holy ghost,(reward)" They are distinct aspects of the one and yet inseparable from one another/all is one and one is all after all, not unlike the 3 bodied Tathagatta
