It is thanks to our seeds of auspicious causation, not to SGI

"The Great Teacher Miao-lo says in his commentary (Hokke Mongu Ki, seven): Therefore we know that if, in the latter age, one is able to hear the Law even briefly, and if having heard it, one then arouses faith in it, this comes about because of the seeds planted in a previous existence.' And he also says (Maka Shikan Bugyoden Guketsu): "Being born at the end of the Middle Day of the Law, I have been able to behold these true words of the sutra. Unless in a previous existence one has planted the seeds of auspicious causation, then it is truly difficult to encounter such an opportunity."(Rebuking Slander of the Law, MW vol. 6)

It is thanks to the good causes that we made in previous existences that we have encountered Namu Myoho renge kyo. It is not thanks to the Soka Gakkai as they would have us believe. It is also thanks to the good causes that we made that we have strong faith in the Gohonzon, the Lotus Sutra, Shakyamuni Buddha and Nichiren Daishonin. Finally, it is thanks to these good causes that we now practice the Mystic Law correctly. What terrible causes have they made, the believers in Islam, Christianity, and especially the members of the Soka Gakkai and the Nichiren Shoshu? Truly, it can not be imagined.

  1. Hi Mark! sorry for my prolonged hiatus...however, I have thought about Eagle Peak every day.

Q: Auspicious Causation: then, does it have an inverse explanation - that if you do not have the compassion to tell someone about the "Law" - for reasons like: I don't like that person, or - I'm not prepared to follow through what I feel may be required of me to parent that person/family to a point of realization......I once nurtured and converted an alcoholic employee of mine. Looking back now, I can't believe how much bravado and energy it took for him to receive his Gohonzon and learn recitation.......he died a few months later, in a hospital, diapered and delirious. Now, I have a neighbor that makes his "run" every afternoon -"there goes Frank!"....he knows that he is killing himself, and yet....So, I'm thinking, the least I can/must do is have him repeat the Daimoku...by trickery if need be, and preferably, in front of a Gohonzon - when he is "feeling good." But, as of late, I've been feeling, if That person's karma/fortune is depending on Me to deliver the goods, I feel sorry for them, just let "Auspicious Causation" manifest on it's own - even though Nichiren says that the Law doesn't spread by itself, but by word of mouth from believers. In other words, am I using Auspicious Causation as an excuse not to tell or help, or am I dealing with a guilt complex derived from "the O'l days.".....and, I Need a Gongyo Book!!!!!

  2. Of course Maxwell, we have our responsibility to introduce people to the Wonderful Law. Whether they accept or rebel, immediately embrace the Law or embrace an inferior teaching (SGI), or embrace the Law in the future, near or distant, depends not only on auspicious causation but inauspicious causation.

Some people meet the Law through the internet; others through the Nichiren Shu or some other sect (the Nichiren Shu was in the United States since the late 1800s); others through books or magazines.

And your thoughts on the more than 600,000 who received Gohonzon through the SGI/NST and who abandoned the practice never to practice again for the forseeable future. Does SGI take responsibility for them or do they attribute it to auspicious/inauspicious causation. You know the answer Maxwell. Never once does SGI take responsibility for bad outcomes.
