Ok it seems as if you are prepared to debate regarding the Lotus Sutra because of your comments and I will respond . If you are talking about Avalokitesvara chapter it is, as all of the Buddha's teaching to revere and emulate . At no point did the Buddha say worship him like a god. You are mixing up because of a probable christian background. So why would the Buddha say worship Avalokitesvara who was a Bodhisattva,.We are directed to try and develop his state of life of great compassion and courage. It is when you can really develop these qualities great changes can happen.
I have lived the Lotus sutra so I am also talking from experience. You also need to remember only a Buddha can really understand and believe the Lotus sutra. It is within the writings but we can only but try and we will find that our understanding grows and also the results in our life.I practiced for many years in the SGI and I found I became stuck in fact everything started to full apart.But when I started to really study and believe in the Lotus sutra things started to change.
It is interesting you call Nichiren a Buffon and that the Lotus sutra is horse shit but they have been read for hundreds of years and the Lotus sutra for thousands.Also within the writings is great compassion for those who go against it because they will eventually be led to believe it even if it takes many life times.You are a living example of someone who has been so damaged by the SGI that you can write such derogatory statements .It is your unhappy experiences that have led you to be so virulent .One day you will find out all the other things you seem to believe in like the pharmaceutical industry, science, is not to be relied on either or what ever you think is correct views.
Look at the world now they have done nothing to change man's suffering. If you say that about the Lotus Sutra it is the very reason the world has become the way it is because of it being ignored and people only cherry picking aspects of it that they want or can only believe. You can not prove that Shakyimuai did not expound it as none of his teachings were written down to begin with .So why should his earlier ones be more authentic then his later.
Infact King Ashoka who lived around 250 bc proved it was written around that time as he tried to put into practice all the Lotus sutra taught. He actually sent out missionaries to other places in the world which is in keeping with what the Lotus sutra taught and not the earlier teachings of Hinayana buddhism. This period was one of the greatest and prosperous of India's history. However finally destroyed because of Islamic and Hinduism teachings which reduced India to what it is today.You will come up with all you so called correct theories about the Lotus sutra but do not think they will be any more valid . You will only be following so called scholars that have not lived or tried to live what the Lotus sutra taught .
Only when you try to follow and believe its teachings would I think you will have a valid argument. How ever of course you have that right just as much as I have a right to put my point of view and experience across. But I have one big advantage over you I have experienced it. Anyway I thought this site was to refute the S.G.I not The Lotus Sutra and Nichiren both of which they do not follow especially the Lotus sutra.
