We are in the Kalpa of Decrease and Decline because of primarily the Soka Gakkai and Nichiren Shoshu who did away with Shakyamuni Buddha and stupid people who refuse to wear masks.

"In the kalpa of decline, the three major calamities will occur, namely, the calamities of fire, water, and wind. And in the kalpa of decrease, the three minor calamities will occur, namely, famine, pestilence, and warfare. Famine occurs as a result of greed, pestilence as a result of foolishness, and warfare as a result of anger.

At present the people of Japan number 4,994,828 men and women, all of them different persons but all alike infected by the three poisons. And these three poisons occur because of their relationship with Namu-myoho-renge-kyo. So all of these people at the same moment set out to curse, attack, banish, and do away with Shakyamuni, Many Treasures, and the Buddhas of the ten directions. This is what leads to the appearance of the three minor calamities." - King Rinda

Are you saying that Soka Gakkai (SGI) and Nichiren Shoshu Temple (NST) hasn't cursed, attacked, banished, and done away with Shakyamuni Buddha? Their very Gohonzon was inscribed by Nichikan or their High Priests who label Shakyamuni a "husk" Buddha (as if he wasn't the kernel of the True Law)? Who but SGI and NST members have called Shakyamuni Buddha in derision, "Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny"? Even Muslims and Christians don't bad mouth Shakyamuni as much as they. Which Nichiren Buddhists insists that Shakyamuni of the Juryo Chapter is NOT the Original Buddha? Only SGI and NST, of course. In fact, SGI is MUCH closer to the non-Buddhists:

"The non-Buddhists criticized the Buddha, saying: “You are a foolish man living at the end of the kalpa of formation and the beginning of the kalpa of continuance, while the original teachers of our doctrines were wise men of ancient times, the two deities and the three ascetics.” In the end, however, all the ninety-five non-Buddhist schools were discarded." - The Tripitaka Master Shan-wu-wei

The Soka Gakkai and the Nichiren Shoshu proclaim that the Original Buddha was Nichiren. SGI, sometimes out of arrogance (the World of Anger and one of the Fourteen Slanders), proclaims that the Buddha is SGI itself and at other times, they confuse the Law, Myoho renge kyo or Namu Myoho renge kyo, with Shakyamuni Buddha. How could they come to experience the favors of Shakyamuni, his merits and virtues if they reject him, if they deride him? Is this why there are so many arrogant a--holes in the Soka Gakkai? So many unlearned men who know well the Human Revolution but never read the entire Lotus Sutra? So many thieves and too many murderers and supporters of Japan's military and their military-industrial complex? Why has pestilence has descended upon the land?

Certainly Nichiren taught that Shakyamuni of the Juryo Chapter was the "Original Eternal Buddha. He said so almost a thousand times.

But SGI (and Nichiren Shoshu), in their conceit, alter his teachings and fail to revere the Master of Teachings, Lord Shakyamuni Buddha who first expounded Myoho renge kyo in the infinite past! They should begin to revere Shakyamuni of the Juryo Chapter immediately if they really wish to do something about this pestilence. Otherwise they will suffer even more misfortune.

Why has Japan been mostly spared? Because there are many in Japan who chant Namu Myoho renge kyo AND revere Shakyamuni of the Juryo Chapter as Eternal Buddha. That and because they all wear masks.
