"The fifth volume of Great Concentration and Insight states, “As practice progresses and understanding grows, the three obstacles and four devils emerge in confusing form, vying with one another to interfere.” It also states, “It will only be like a boar rubbing against the golden mountain; like the various rivers flowing into the sea; like logs making a fire burn more briskly; or like the wind swelling the body of the kālakula insect.” These passages mean that, if one understands and practices the Lotus Sutra just as it teaches, in accordance with the people’s capacity and at the right time, then these seven obstacles and devils will confront one. Among them, the devil king of the sixth heaven [is the most powerful. He] will possess one’s sovereign, parents, wife or children, lay supporters, or evil persons, and through them will attempt in a friendly manner to divert one from one’s practice of the Lotus Sutra, or will oppose one outright. The practice of Buddhism is ALWAYS accompanied by persecutions and difficulties corresponding in severity to whichever sutra one may uphold. To practice the Lotus Sutra will provoke particularly harsh persecutions. To practice as it teaches, and in accordance with the time and the people’s capacity, will incite truly agonizing ordeals." - Actions of the Votary of the Lotus Sutra
yep ! real buddhism in the latter day. does sgi teach this. nope.
ReplyDeletebad teacher.

U R wrong and guilty of fomenting animosity amongst believers. 2bad 4U.
DeleteIf you believe so and you say so ANONYMOUS, it must be true.actually, I am a proposing that everyone embraces the same Three Treasures and three Great Secret Laws. Do you assail the Soka Gakkai, the Nichiren Shoshu, the Nichiren Shu and the other sects, the TRUE source of fomenting animosity amongst believers. besides, what does this have to do with the posted passage?

"neither non-buddhists nor the enemies of buddhism can destroy the correct teaching of the thus come one, but the buddhas disciples definitely can. as a sutra says, only worms born of the lion's body feed on the lion." (wnd302) who would this be referring to? those who stand up for the real teachings or those that change and go against them for profit and selfish gain?
gregorio
Yes, Who would this refer to ?
DeleteA personal question we all must answer for ourselves. Reading Nichiren’s own words, chanting daimoku at our own altars. Is this blog where you stand up for real teachings? I suggest you read Nichiren’s guidance on behavior as a human being and establishing yourself as a person of respect instead. I can say this is what I learned in SGI. I respectfully ask you to think about your attitude towards other believers and the way you preach on the internet. We teach our children to beware of disinformation and to live sincerely caring for others. In this way we protect ourselves from negative influences . Daimoku first — and always. Tanya
Tanya, your statement, I suggest you read Nichiren’s guidance on behavior as a human being and establishing yourself as a person of respect, is nothing more than cult bull baiting or Ad Hominem. I suggest that you reflect on your own behavior.
DeleteI see, the passage posted is disinformation:

But the Human Revolution, the New Human Revolution, SGI mentor-disciple, singing Forever Sensei, interfaith and the infallibility of the High Priest is all truth and perfectly consonant with the Lotus Sutra and teachings of Nichiren.
Bull baiting? Now that’s a funny accusation from you considering how you are constantly insulting people here, but you aren’t getting replies in kind and that leaves you scrambling for justification for you obvious misunderstanding of the importance of the causes we are making. No one who belittles others as you do will be respected or believed.
DeletePounding your fist on the teachings is all you can do having failed to substantiate your accusations with facts and having violated the Law as you continue. Facts and Law off the table , you bring down your fist and prove you have no case.

for the nichiren haters......there are two main reasons why people make mistakes in their practice of buddhism..1. they are ignorant of the real teachings. 2. they follow a bad leader/cult.
ReplyDeletegregorio
We all have access to Gosho and Lotus Sutra. Time you noticed ! You are not quoting anything not available or forbidden from any believer . What you are doing is claiming to be superior and go so far as to call other believers “ Nichiren haters”. Immediately disqualifying your remarks. If you truly had something valuable for others to know, and you actually cared about others, you’d have developed the ability to impart your thoughts in a way that others would comprehend. Teachers are judged by the proficiency of their students. If you can’t reach students you can’t teach them. So it seems like you have some other agenda that smells like your own personal gain. Good news is you will learn according to your prayers. Pray for the sake of others and you will definitely develop a more reasonable attitude and approach to the precious believers chanting Myoho Renge Kyo. Katie
ReplyDeleteThere are many who recited the Lotus Sutra and studied extensively the Lotus sutus Sutra and ended up like Pu'kung, Shan-wu-wei, Kobo Daishi, Jikaku, Annen and countless others. It is apparent that the Soka Gakkai and Nichiren Shoshu have incorporated provisional Buddhist principles into the Lotus Sutra Buddhism of Nichiren. The Nichiren Shu also but they are more difficult to refute, so I will refrain from refuting them at this time. Anyone like you who picks and chooses Nichiren, IS a Nichiren hater, period. Otherwise your comment is nothing more than Ad Hominum. You shouls reflect on your own behavior.
DeleteI have actual proof in my life . I have studied in depth - which I’m pretty certain you have not. Caring for and about others I value all believers — feeling strong connection to Nichiren and the Buddha, I can’t help feeling soooo sorry for you. I don’t pick and choose from Nichiren’s writings. I accept and believe them all. Hard for you to realize that others don’t perceive the teachings as you do? That’s your challenge , not ours😊
